All of my paradox games' launchers somehow became unresponsive. I can click the button and the tickboxes, but there's no indication at all that I actually clicked on them. So for example if I untick a dlc, it will be shown still as ticked but when I play the game itself the dlc is inactive. And when I clicked at the quit button, it will close the launcher but no highlight and stuff

I just updated my AMD driver and installed a mod for ck2 (but the problem also exists for EU IV) before the problem started to appear.

is there any reason why for this mess? I could't select my mods properly now.. (sorry for the poor grammar, sleep deprived and stressed out do wonders for the mind)

I'm on PC btw

Sounds as if you didn't uninstall the older driver first and this caused the problem, no ?

Yes! I didn't uninstall the older driver.

I was used to using Nvidia, and I never uninstall my driver before updating them (I thought it's like patching)

And I got this new AMD laptop, and everything is so foreign to me. I used the auto-updater so I thought nothing will go wrong (even though I could feel something feels "off")

So Anyway, if it is indeed because I didn't uninstall the older driver before updating

What is the proper course of action? Thank you in advance

The safest approach would be to go into your Windows system control panel, then to 'add-remove program' or 'programs' or whatever it's called in your OS version
and uninstall AMD Catalyst.

BEFORE that you should download the graphics driver manually on to your desktop and you should look up that new driver at the support page of your Laptops company first,
as laptops have usually specially optimised drivers. So for example if it's a DELL, go to DELLs' support page etc.

After you uninstalled Catalyst and thus the AMD driver you should get a prompt to restart your computer.
When you restart you might get a much smaller screen resolution. No panic, the OS only starts now in a very small resolution, as there is not the proper driver installed.
Now start the driver installer from your desktop, finish installation, restart and you should be good to go.

Or as AMD explains it:
http://support.amd.com/de-de/kb-articles/Pages/GPU57RemoveOldGraphicsDrivers.aspx

If in doubt, post your dxdiag report here.
