Launcher refuses to update

I discovered this error before manually installing the 2.0 patch (so SoA would work) and was instructed to create a report thread here. My launcher refuses to update nor does it recognize any patch later than 1.111. While the game does load properly, it seems that any further updates will have to be manually done. The game version is the GG and all DLCs were purchased through the in-game store with GG blue coins. Screenshot attached.

Version is 2.0. Checksum is WGPN. All DLCs show as loaded.
ck2game.exe is 2/20/12 at 26kb

So your Launcher has not in fact updated for nearly 2 years. I can only guess the file is corrupt or something like an AV app or Windows Virtual Store is getting in the way - is the game installed under the system path c:\program files\ ? Either way I'd suggest a full clean reiinstall:


- move any valued save games elsewhere
- uninstall the game from Windows
- manually delete all files left under the GG CK2 AND Documents/CK2 folders
- re-install game from GG but point it to a new location outside the system path, such as c:\games\ck2\
- apply the latest patch (only)

Well, judging from what appears itself, that can't be entirely true. After all, it automatically detected and installed every patch up until 1.111. As you can see on the screenshot, it is showing the August 16th, 2013 announcement of the 1.111 patch. So, whether or not the launcher itself updated, it was still able to update the GAME until the release of the 2.0 patch. And, as you can also see from the screenshot, the Sons of Abraham DLC reads as selectable.

Yes, I see that, but I wasn't saying the game or DLC hadn't updated in 2 years, just the launcher .exe itself. It takes the date it was installed. It's hard to see why the GG 2.0 patch would update everything else except that one file ...

Is the game installed under the system path c:\program files\ ?

Open up CK2/launcher/launcher.cfg . The section at the end titled Browser should have a line in it "www.paradoxplaza.com/in-game/ck2/launcher.html" , is that line exactly like that? If you go to that URL does it show 1.111 or 2.0?

Also look for a file steam_appid.txt in your CK2 installation, delete it if you find it.

ETA: another possibility is the launcher simply hasn't been changed in all that time. The size I see in my 2.0 installation is 26,624 bytes, is that what you see?

ETA2: do you have the Comodo anti-virus, BTW?
