So recently after the 3.1 update, I have noticed that sometimes clicking the play button after the launcher finishes loading all the mods, if you click the play button it depresses as if accepting input but nothing happens, you can just keep clicking Play. Sometimes I have to reload the launcher 2-3 times before I can actually get it to start and that is after several minutes of it loading mods. It happened a bit before 3.1 but it was not as constant.

The game version does not change the launcher version. You should be on 2021.7.2 now, is that what you see?
Then I have no real explanation for this happening to you. Do you have a lot of mods subscribed perhaps?
2021.8 just came out, did that change anything?
If not, can you reduce the number of mods you are subscribed to?

Turns out there were some mods that were deleted from the steam that kept trying to download for some reason so I cleaned out my mods and launcher works now
I have the same issue with the launcher. I have zero mods installed and have never had mods installed but am experiencing the same issue as described above.
