And some day Napoleon force Charles IV to abdicate ...
Hello, I am just an uruguayan who loves history and loves this game and I believe that there are a lot of events and organizations that happened in this region that could add a lot of fun to colonize or a deepest understanding of the revolutions that took place, so just satisfying curiosity with more events could be fun, also there could be more mechanics turning the revolution in all the continent in a sort of mini game for late game.
So, my idea to this topic is to discuss between us about how could we transform the history of this context to new events and mechanics. As we want an abstract game with a lot of "what if" the idea will be to talk about the history of the people who lived here and estimulate the simulation of history with missions and quests (emphasizing for example the conquest of Spain in Peru, Rio de la Plata and Mexico, and other places) and enhancing the actual quests.
So my first ideas are in a very abstract and wide way:
- I don't know if already is in the game, but it would be nice to have some events representing the monopoly decisions that took Spain with its American colonies, some sort of buff in exchange for unrest and liberty desire in America.
- A representation of the revolution of the colonies when the king dynasty was substitute for another. Maybe more liberty desire when the kingdom is part of a dynastic union or it is turned vassal or some sort of that. Plus an event for a war of dynastic union in the Napoleonic empire.
- Virreinatos (viceroyalty ) for Spain and Portugal, some sort of unique institution / mechanic that give bonus and estimate them to accomplish the colonization / conquest of all the provinces of their region (examples Virreinato de Nueva España, Virreinato de Perú, Virreinato de Nueva Granada, Virreinato del Rio de la Plata, Virreinato del Brasil)
- Juntas as wiki says
so I think there could be some sort of mechanic with the them involving the Virreinatos and high Libery Desire.Juntas emerged in Spanish America as a result of Spain facing a political crisis due to the abdication of Ferdinand VII and Napoleon Bonaparte's invasion. Spanish Americans reacted in much the same way the Peninsular Spanish did, legitimizing their actions through traditional law, which held that there was a retroversion of the sovereignty to the people in the absence of a legitimate king. The majority of Spanish Americans continued to support the idea of maintaining a monarchy under Ferdinand VII, but did not support retaining absolutism.
Spanish Americans wanted self government. The juntas in the Americas did not accept the governments of the Europeans, neither the government set up for Spain by the French nor the various Spanish governments set up in response to the French invasion. The juntas did not accept the Spanish regency, which was under siege in the city of Cadiz. They also rejected the Spanish Constitution of 1812. The triumph of the republican ideas (from the American and French revolutions), transformed the juntas into true independence movements - So after the Juntas are formed there is no way back
Revolutions! There should be some sort of domino effect within the revolutions, for example when a revolution pop ups in a Virreinato it should give more Liberty Desire to the others.
- Also in each Virreinato with a revolution there should be a mechanic for Nationalist and Royalist, so the european power will have some help with the massive civil war that will have to deal.
- I think there should be more tags, between 1800 and 1820 there were a lot of formed Republics.
