One of the thing I felt Victoria II lacked was a propper inmersion and playability for Latin America. Which is a very interesting region on the victoria era. Dozens of civil wars, the dissolution of the Great Colombia, The Brazilian Empire, the legacy of the feudal spanish institutions that gave rise to the caudillos (aka regional warlords), the transition from colonies to independant nations and so on.
So this thread is to disscuss ways to improve this region for the upcoming game and share content related to this region on the Victoria era.
Ideas so far:
Ways to directly attract migrants from Europe or other countries. beign able to target specific ethnicities or regions. This happened historically in some LA countires. for example Venezuela did this in 1840 resulting in a german township in Venezuela called "Colonia Tovar".
The casta system that divided society by race, ethnicity and wealth and the resulting cultural and political divisions from said differences.
A consecuence of the spanish/potuguese colonial model was a cast society where the ruling class of each country was culturally disconected from the commoners. So an aristocrat in Mexico was culturally the same as one in Peru but the people they ruled were different this led to internal tensions due to the cultural difference between the ruling classes in LA and the general population.
The institutional challanges of nationbuilding just after achieving independence:
The debts from the wars of independence and the problems they carried.
The infighting among factions & the civil wars resulted from said infighting.
The challange of centralizing power in a rural society where feudal institutions still rule.
The political influence of the catholic church in the government.
The role of religious groups like the jesuits or the De La Salle brothers in education.
Propper representation of the natural resources even those unexploited. the economy of the era was mostly agrarian, but bast mineral wealth existed even if unexploited. Many Coal, copper & iron deposits exists in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru & Venezuela. yet those were never represented in Victoria II so the region was allmost impossible to industrialize. There could be a mechanich to survey for resources and establish a mining operations. I think that the VICK II mechanich where the resource output was proportional to the workforce of the province doesnt really represents how resource extraction work. Productivity isn't determined by ammount of people laboring, but by Deposit quality & availability, by infraestructure, by technology , by tools. It would be nice if VICK III reflected this concept.
These are ideas on the rough, feel free to add feedback and hope this reaches the developers.
