Well that doesn't narrow it down too much, though requirement two is highly dependent of the specs of your computer.seangcarroll said:Well, how about these requirements...
1) WWII period (somewhat ahistorical Ok)
2) Not so many events that my computer will overheat.
3) Some enhancement to the combat system, e.g., brigades .that have more value beyond simply Marines plus artillery.
4)works with Armageddon with no (or rare) game crashes.
I'll answer them for CORE at least:
CORE covers the 1936-1952 era, basically. Apart from the historical we aim to support the ahistorical, plausible options as well. We tend to opt for historical accuracy rather than gamey aspects though, so don't expect to rule the world as Luxemburg or Bhutan.1) WWII period (somewhat ahistorical Ok)
I've yet to see any report of overheating taking place when playing CORE. But we do add thousands of events to the original game, as most mods do.2) Not so many events that my computer will overheat.
We have a completely revised and expanded tech tree and model setup. More brigade variety, and more specialization. Plus the tech tree is so advanced that it forces nations to focus their research rather than 'research it all'. Going ahistorical comes as a price, i.e. Germany can go for a carrier fleet, but will lack the tech teams with matching skills. It's certainly doable, but it will leave you relatively weak somewhere else.3) Some enhancement to the combat system, e.g., brigades .that have more value beyond simply Marines plus artillery.
CORE works with ARM (0.3.2.3 isn't fully utilizing ARM features like the naval brigades, but it works fine). The upcoming release will be a full ARM release. And we only release when the mod is stable, and as bug free as it can get.4)works with Armageddon with no (or rare) game crashes.
Furthermore, we fully support moddir, so you can install CORE into your regular ARM setup and the original game will still work. Do bear in mind that in order to get a full CORE experience you'll need one of the two CORE Graphics Packs as well, given the huge amounts of changes in the model and tech tree setup.
