CK3 is one hell of a game, I have enjoyed playing every minute of it until now. My issue with it (apart from all the bugs) is that there is a lack of Late Middle Ages aesthetics (arts & graphics) from the units and the soldiers we muster to the clothing, and especially the armor for the customization of our characters and knights. Metal processing advanced super quickly in early 14th century, and by very early 15th century (literally as early as 1400 onwards) they actually started covering the WHOLE body of a "knight/warrior" with full plate armor with large sheets of metal (The warriors were covered from head to toe.)
Where are the full plate armor of the Late Middle Ages Paradox? Where are the coat plates that were worn over chainmail suits? Also where are the elaborate helmet designs of the Late Middle Ages (all we have in the game are Nasal Helmets and other variants of it)? The game goes till 1453, such aesthetics is definitely a must. I want to feel immersed in the era, so when I reach the Late Middle Ages, I want to feel like I am in it. It would be pleasing if you provided us with such iconic full plate armor of the era, and It would work as an incentive for players that continue the game till the end.
Also adding in different surcoats and brigandines would be pretty awesome too.
My questions is, are there any plans to add such things in the future or no?

Edit: Just found this! This would be amazing till 1450. I would love to have more availability for customization, especially now that we can customize our courtiers (Knights).
It would be amazing if Vassals could also change their outfits-military outfits automatically as time progresses.

CK2's later starts suffered from the fact that there were a bajillion choices and the devs never seemed to pay much attention to them. I think one or two dates given similar amounts of care and attention as the 867 and 1066 starts would be a lot more popular. Especially if the dates were well-chosen. Like, do a Third Crusade era start with some light flavour events for Saladin and Richard the Lionheart. Surely that's what the phrase "crusader kings" brings to mind for most people. Also gives you a nice "you have a few decades prepare yourself for the Mongol invasion, good luck" setup for the eastern part of the map, unlike CK2's 1220 start where you were basically screwed.

(And for the love of all that is good, don't do a start date less than 200 years from the end date. I have no idea why they decided to keep 1337 as a default option over 1220 when Iron Century came out.)
What was wrong with 1337 if you played beyond end date?

Did vanilla CK2 add the ability to play past the end date at some point? It wasn't there for most of the game's lifespan, at any rate.

It did slip my mind that CK3 lets you disable it, so I guess it would be less of a problem here. There is still an immersion issue with continuing to play into the sixteenth century while everything stays in medieval stasis, though.

If they monetise cosmetic only and makes gameplay changes free, that would be great... Sadly, I think they will not do that...
Depends if they learned a lesson with CK2's retinue being DLC. They obviously regretted making some important features DLC locked.

I am honestly fine with that (at a reasonable price). People that are history fanatics can buy it, and the people who don't care about immersion and such don't have to buy it.

It's funny because looks like the modders are already busy at work doing this for the devs. So they better hurry up if they don't want redundant flavor packs being sold.

The unit-gfx on the map depend on the quality of your army actually.
But its not working properly atm. There is no way that at 867 start date I would have such a army composition that my unit-gfx would have the looks of a High Middle Ages army. All I know is that the unit-gfx in CK3 is not working properly atm.

Not bad. I hope that they start working on late game armors and surcoats and other customizable aesthetic things. Another thing that would be cool is to have our Coat of Arms on our surcoats, and same goes with vassals (having their own coat of arms on them). Some cool things can be done, Paradox should definitely give the things mentioned here a thought or two.

Honestly, I wouldn't even mind a start date even for something as late as the hundred years war. Just to have the chance to play as Edward I and his son the Black Prince or Henry V. That'd be awesome.

At least you could have an accurate end to the 100YW, which you can't in eu4, as well as being able to disinherit the dauphin finally :^)

Do we historically know what people wore, rather than what nobility wore? A lot of history was whitewashed and lost about military garb. I assume for most of the middle ages it was fought with farmers rakes and hunters bows and not glittering armor. Its obvious now a lot of history either hams up the middle ages as super shiny guys on white horses or downplays it as pigs in dirt. I've generally felt CK has hit the reality pretty much on the head. Would be nice as vanity flavour packs though.

That's called political history (from top to down). And I have already mentioned that point (Most wouldn't be wearing such stuff, read the thread).
We play as the nobility in CK3, not as the peasants. Also we do have a very clear idea of what the nobility wore in the Middle Ages.
