So I have so many many problems with stellaris late game.
1) the entire galaxy is in federations by midgame, so every war is a 16 irl day endeavor because you have to fight the entire galaxy and if you aren't the person who declared it there is no way to get out of the war.
2) the war ai is really stupid, basically every allied fleet in the galaxy just follows you. Even if you don't have a fleet designated as the leader they will just pick a fleet to follow. So a multifront galactic war devolves into two death blobs attacking each other with so many ships on screen your computer will basically crash if you try to watch the fight.
3) as a follow up to 2, the ai will send literally every fleet in the collective galaxy to bomb 1 planet for hours rather than spread out.
A few suggestions
1) cap the number of fleets but remove fleet command limits. This way even if the ai decidesto blob you won't have to look at a mountain of fleet strength number covering up the screen.
2) put in way to breakup federations, like say subterfuge. Then maybe subterfuge wouldn't suck and every war wouldn't be galactic in scale
3) make a method, don't care how, to ends wars that your federation starts.
4)make the ai have multiple targets so they stop blobbing.
Also sidebar, the combat rework is great
