Again, I am not going to keep going with Britain. It was my first taste of MTG Navy, I have been staying away (Germany, Russia, France). Now after about 16 hours with Britain, I freaking hate it. Way too much micro for Navy, which you really do not need if France, Germany, or Russia.

So this post is the about Convoy and Naval battle GUI/feedback. Not sure where to start, it totally sucks. You get about 100 of the pics you click on and there are no losses, some have losses and you are not sure what to make of them. And the big battles (the few that there are) are not significantly highlighted from small Convoy things.

Anyway, sorry, I cannot stop ranting. I am sooo disappointed with the Navy crap. And ever week I read some other bug or snafu that someone finds out, or something change.., etc.., Thank goodness there are nations you do not need to know Navy because HOI 4 is awesome when you do NOT use Navy.

Fleet battles are notified by an icon representing a navy ship, while convoy raids are notified by an icon representing a cargo ship. Are they not sufficiently differentiated for you? The convoy raids notifications can be annoying after a while, but you can ignore them (don't click on the notification icon).

Well to be fair to the Poopster if subs sink a cargo ship in the presence of enemy warships it notifies you that a "naval battle" took place. And you do get peppered with reports if you use Navs in a busy sea zone - though that usually dies down after a while. You can also just mouse over your notifications at the top of the toolbar and right click to dismiss them all if it just looks like a bunch of patrol reports.

Different things bug different people. I am slightly OCD so I will often pause the game and click on every... single... report. I find it soothing. :p

Use the Naval Theater: put your less important fleet escorts and convoy raiding on theathers with less priority, you won't get any notification. Leave your important theater to the main fleet that is chasing the enemy fleet or supporting your land invasions

Wow, really...

Another thing I see the first time after 1300 hours. I wonder how long I have to play to know all features :D

There seems to be only two priorities: Normal (the default), and High. Unless I'm missing something, there is no Low priority. I don't have the Man the Guns DLC, does that matter?

I just tried putting all my convoy raiding fleets into a new theater set to Normal priority, and changing the priority of the strike fleet theater to High priority. And resumed playing. Not long thereafter, I got convoy raiding notifications, and started getting new, additional notifications for the High priority theater (such as 'Spotted enemy navies', see screenshot below).

That doesn't seem to work at all as you described. Not only the convoy raiding spam remains, but there is now new notification spam. What am I doing wrong?

Oh! Right, I then manually dissmiss the normal convoy notification in the knowledge that the high priority spotted and battle notification is the only one that matters. Sorry, you really can't lower priority ^^' I think that works to get my focus on what really matters

Got it. That's disappointing, but thanks for your clarification!

Edit: I can see how the little-known High Priority setting might be useful for players who get distracted and complain that they miss major naval battles while they happen. It probably won't help Poopfaust however... lol, sorry.

I think ALOT of people are or have been confused by the naval UI. The huge thing that confused the hell out of me for literally years is the way Task Forces and Fleets operate. The way all your Task Forces in a Fleet have to like be doing the same thing. They like can't operate independently. I didn't understand how to use ships for the longest time because of that. I would tell some of my ships to do one thing somewhere and then when I tried to tell another group of ships to do something in another area, it would screw up the first group. Drove me insane. I just gave up on the naval stuff for a long time.

The other thing that really annoyed me with the naval UI is that it doesn't allow you to reinforce Task Forces with specific classes of ships. It only allows you to reinforce your Task Forces based on 8 or so random icons that you have to assign to your ships. Really bizarre way of doing it. If you have more than 8 or so ship classes good luck getting your Task Forces reinforced with the correct ships. You'll just have to constantly do it manually.

I think most of the bugs still present are database related(mostly to design and role ratios), only one I can think of that needs attention: Ai won't exercise their fleets, so no XP untill they are at war, which means they keep building ships with old modules.

The convoy battle reports are best just right click the icon on the notification bar, this removes them all. Follow the convoy war from the naval history/losses screen and civilian Intel page on the specific nation. I think the auto timeout on these is 60 days

This leaves only the naval battle reports to check, they stay 180 days I think. Here we only need to really keep track of sea regions where our main fleets are operating/opposed.

I do agree that there could be an additional level, battles where capital ships from both sides have been engaged just so we don't miss the big important reports. (we do get a notification and a sound effect for these major naval battles I think, just like the naval invasion one).
