Hi first post in the Battletech forum. Hello all?

I’m new to the game aaand I’m really enjoying it (Just got the Argo in campaign). My only question is:

Do you ever get to deploy more than 1 Lance? I’m not short of firepower, I’d just like the engagements to get larger later.

Short Answer: No.

Long Answer, Some missions give you a support lance that you don't control or indeed have to protect. The enemy will eventually drop up to 12 mechs against your lance or even more if you have the support forces.

Captain Slide is correct. In the regular game you personally only control four 'mechs, with some missions allowing you to have AI allies. If you ever decided to venture forth into modding there are some mods that expand the number of lances the player can control.

I play on normal difficulty. I think there was one time I had Davian and Lyrans trying to break through 2 lances of a computer side. Or Kurita and Capellan. One of my hardest fights was my 400 tons vs 3 lances of medium and heavy mechs. That one I managed to finish without withdrawing, thankfully there was a lot of water which helps me a lot.

Tried Roguetech but despite the 'faster AI' movement each turn took forever so I didn't get into it.

Any suggestions as to which mods (with the exception of Roguetech)?

Hi first post in the Battletech forum. Hello all?...
Hi! And welcome to the BATTLETECH forum.

There are Mods you can use that will give you control of more than one Lance. Key here is just how much demand the Mod will place on you computer. RogueTech is a fabulous Mod, but can be demanding depending on your system.

Another way to go is to cut right to the chase and use @CWolfs Mod itself, “Mission Control.” This is the less demanding Mod that other ModPacks, like RogueTech use when they want to incorporate the ability to control multiple Lances. But if you load the Mission Control Mod directly, it will be less demanding than an entire ModPack like RogueTech.

Also you’ll find some great BATTLETECH and BattleTech resources among the links in my signature block below. Good luck and good BATTLETECH gaming!

Also go to the Battletech Modders' Collective on github and get BiggerDrops. It goes along with Mission Control (which is on Nexus).

as @Eximar said go get those two mods.
both are needed to eventually work you way to 2 full lances
of note....since a recent update Bigger Drops no longer will allow you to drop more than 1 lance into a flashpoint.
also....while you get to field more meks with Bigger Drops, Mission Control will....
make maps a bit larger
randomize spawn points
chance to spawn 1 or more extra lances of opfor
chance to spawn a lance of 'helper' allies for player
adds a couple of additional side missions
