I've been thinking about reinforcements in Paradox games. The thing is, unless a unit is totally destroyed losses don't really matter to major nations, they just hit the fist icon and the units are at full power again.
What I think would be better is if land units (heck, air units too) reinforced like ships. Ship's strength is restored slowly if you park them in a port, or you can hit the fist icon to repair them faster and be redeployed somewhere.
How would this work with land units is if the unit is not moving or fighting and is in supply, strength, like morale/org in HoI, slowly recovers. Also, units with more than 50% losses* do not recover strength like this, they have to sent back to be rebuilt with the reinforce buton. Less damaged units could also be reinforced like this, if desired. Once rebuilt the unit can them be redepolyed at the nearest supply centre (ie A HQ or city).
With this trickle reinforcing units would recover org and moralre a little slower while new men are arriving as well as a slight drop in experiance for (if this is tracked by units as in Vic, rather than HoI's leader experiance) the same reason. Experiance loss depends on the number of new troops added. Units sent back to be rebuilt take double, or even tripple, exp loss. Time for rebuilding should be perhaps 2/3rds of the time taken to build the unit modified by how damaged it was, so a almost totally destoryed unit would take the full 2/3rds times while a only slightly damaged unit would be finished much faster.
*= If units can become 'elite' then perhaps the point which elite units have to be rebuilt could be lower than 50% due to the desire to keep these units intact.
