Reading this thread I think people forget that this game has to at least be moderately accessible.

To those who need a little, eh, assistance with accessibility...

well, the "gun" it have is acturlly a 380mm rocket laucher.
View attachment 123712
that thing in front of it is a rocket :)

yes, it has a 380mm gun ... but it's not, what I understand by a rocket or a rocket launcher (like the russian Katjuscha, the german Panzerwerfer 42, or the modern american M270) ... it was more ''that the projectile was rocket assisted'' ... (http://www.battletanks.com/sturmtiger.htm)

So when the projectile leaves the muzzle, it was about 45 m/s. Than the 'rocket' accelerated it up to 250 m/s ... but after this short phase, it was nothing else than a normal projectile ... so, yes: it was something between a simple projectile and a rocket

So for me it's not a rocket launcher (and also for the Wehrmacht, see the official name: Geschützwagen 606/9 or Sturmmörser „Tiger“)

EDIT: but yes, it was wrong of me to say, that it ''has nothing to do with rockets'' ...

Technically it is a rocket driven projectile. So rocket fits.
It is just also ~10 times bigger then ususal rockets. :D

And combat role was for destruction of bunkers and whole house blocks. After the experience of Stalingrad where normal assault guns had too small calibre to be effective in short time.
So Brumbär was developed(150mm gun) and some later the need for even bigger Sturmtiger was raised.
So this tanks are city fighting special AG's.

Sturmtiger is the worst looking tank ever... In fact i just hate any short barreled tanks (not AFV, just tanks/assault guns/tank destroyers).
But how well did it do in combat?

It was barely used, as usual too heavy and broke too much. Usual late war german "engineering".

Don´t recall a single time it was actually used, if someone has info would be nice.

My most serious concern with the new division designer is whether or not the support icons are simply "yes/no" toggles, or whether we will actually have some control over the AMOUNT of Recon/AA/AT/ENG that we have in the division. The toggle could be useful for situations like China, where there's simply no need to include AT with the typical division, and more economical to simply eat the manpower losses than to include AA, but I would think that EVERY line division in Europe will want to include at least limited amounts of AA, AT, ENG, and Recon. With only a "yes/no" toggle, that leaves very little room for differentiation, despite the flexibility in assigning non-support battalions, because the answer will almost always be "yes".

This is a legitimate concern. I swear I read somewhere that a Dev said something about adjusting the amounts of things like artillery and AA, but I can't find it now.

Here is podcat in the DD on division design:

A Division Template is made up of Brigades which are made up of Battalions, this is represented by a grid of cells in 6 columns of 5 rows with each column being a Brigade and each cell being a Battalion - With the exception that the left-most column are Support Units of varying sizes. Support Units are different in that they either lend useful abilities such, as an improved reconnaissance ability, or powerful direct or indirect fire to your frontline troops.

Speaking of Support Units, it isn't clear how you would attach Supporting units such as a Tiger Tank unit or Stug Unit where you don't necessarily want to commit the numbers for full battalion of vehicles to a Division in a regular Battalion Slot. I'm hoping you can attach and detach support units of this type so you can transfer some good units depending on the need rather than fix it permanently to the Division. Also, combat resolution remains to be seen say if you had heavy guns in support (like the 88 or 105) and you need them to knock out tanks your crappy Panzer IIs and early Panzer IIIs have trouble with. How would combat utilize such potent weapons when needed?
