After watching all the WWW videos and seeing the insurmountable obstacle that is the British Fleet in the Channel, I have been wondering: Can land based naval bombers be used to establish naval supremacy? It is certainly feasible. I have looked back through the DDs and cannot find anything related to what missions you assign your naval aircraft to. I would assume it is the same as land based aircraft.

In my opinion it would be nice for your naval bombers to have the same settings as your fleet: patrol, search and destroy, and convoy raiding with the same effects as it has on your ship dispersion. Radar and decryption level could help in how fast you locate enemy ships and attack.

As it relates to naval warfare in the channel, Germany could deploy naval bombers and beat back the Royal Navy allowing an invasion. This could also help the US in the pacific early on or Japan for that matter as they occupy islands.

Does anyone have anymore information or ideas on this topic?

P.S. Great job on the game thus far. I cannot wait to unleash my plans for world domination.

I think yes. Otherwise what is reason for naval bomber to exist:>?

But they didn't show that mechanic at all, propably due to balance issues.
Imagine you can assign 1 submarine and, 1300 naval bombers as GER player to one battle vs Royal Navy:)

I think its basically a standard tactics for Axis. Win the land war against USSR first.
Then at that point you still have almost no navy compared to UK+USA. But with all those hundreds of new factories and resources you can use a big part of them for fighters, naval bombers and tacs to get air supremacy and naval supremacy over the channel and southern England and then invade. Your shipyards alone would probably take too long to get on par with what the allied fleet has but if you use your military factories for airforce you can shift that balance sooner.

Dive bombers were better than torpedo bombers, making the whole naval attack stats of CAS in HOI3 more than a bit weird.

Naval bombers should be more resilient and with more range and that´s it. But CAS should definitedly have better naval attack than tactical bombers if they are being used as dive bombers. The trick is balancing how vulnerable they are and the cost of replacing pilots.

Probably modelling the difference between naval dive bombers that used armor piercing bombs and land based dive bombers that didn't.
But it still doesn't make sense, ordnance can be swapped provided that they're of similar size and weight and that's supposed to be abstracted on HoI scale, and the division isn't actually that clear, CAS would use AP bombs if they need to bust bunkers, and naval dive bombers would use non-AP on convoys and non-capital ship to prevent overpenetration (penetrating the other sizd of the ship and explode after exiting the ship)

I don't see any problem with that ;)

In all seriousness though, I'd like to see a few ships deal with 1300 naval bombers, seems pretty realistic they'd end up as metal splinters.
Forget about 1 submarine, just put a wooden dingy piloted by some retired drunk sailor in the water and you'll have navel supremacy.
