An Arab mapmaker found his way to the lake in the early 1160's, and the local Bantu speaking people had several names. Perhaps the first European power to colonize/ discover the lake should give its current rulers name to the lake.

I cant read arabic, but it appers he labled a lakes at the southern tips of the Nile river. Perhaps Muslim/ Arabic cultures could use that name for the lake?
