Search knackered, so possible repeating an FAQ - I am unable to search anything. Can't even see any of my own post by selecting that through the profile page. That is hugely annoying, to say the least.

Question - and I serahced the Vickywiki site too to no avail. Their suggestions do not work at all.

How do you get the capitalists to build a factory you need?

Point in case: electric goods factory.

I got every currently available type of factory except this one.

I have set my trade options for electric gear to 'Buy <1000' and the price is the highest of any commodity.

I deliberately kept one state completely empty of factories as to entice capitalists to jump on the labourpool there (3 million unemployed workers eager to get going).

I have lowered the taxes of the rich to 3% so they should be sitting on massive iles of cash.

I have about a dozen car/tank factories that NEED electronic gear.

I daresay I am at a loss thinking up more methods of increasing demand for the commodity and facilitating buyilding one factory?

But they keep building silly furiture, paper, cement, fertilizer and clothing factories. So, am I doing something wrong or is the AI just not catching on?

The AI is just not catching on. Capitalists will build what they want, which is not always what the market need. Such is the beauty of laissez-faire.
You have done all that was possible for them to create your factory, but they might not see the point.

Capitalists don't build at complete random. they build factories for goods that your pops need. All pops need glass so they start building that and have those needs taken care of first .

I was under that impression. But the population doesn't need glass: My stockpile is close to 20000 (!) so basically I could allow every single pop to have 10 cases of glassware free with his weekly payslip.

Thankfully the capitalists haven't been building glass.

I also noticed that the capitalists keep building small arms factories - which the population don't need either?

Unless I am playing the Americans - which I am not.

Why not just put a State Capitalist or Planned Economy party in power, build the factory you want, then switch back to Laissez-Faire?

You might get a militancy spike temporarily from the unpopular government, but you'll get what you need.

Cally : two issues with that. you are going to get a +2 mil spike for your pops twice then they are going to start switching to the far right and far left idiologies ( communist, socialist, reactionary, and anarchist liberal).

also the parties that tend to have state capitalist and planned economies are the far right or left parties, if you have these parties in power at the start of the month it tends to charge your constitution and you get in a horrible loop or trying to get them out of power.
