its been happening before aow came out. On speed 3 and up the game gets choppy and annoying, i have an intel i5 4670k cpu and a geforce 760 2gb gpu

Same problem for me after i bought some new DLC now its slow and choppy and it makes the game unplayable. Im well over the recommended system specs aswell.
Have you opted into the 1.8-hotfix beta in the Steam EU4 beta tab? If that doesn't help, we're just awaiting the developers to work on this, I'm afraid.
