to try and narrow down the problem place mouse cursor over an area of the bottom bar where you get no tooltips (this is important) and scroll the map using the keyboard. do you see a change in lag?

Yes, I noticed a big difference in fact no lag at all horizontally when placing the mouse cursor at the bottom or top of the screen and had no lag vertically at all. Also, I noticed that turning off the terrain map and using any of the others also reduced the lag although didn't get rid of it completely when moving left to right or right to left horizontally.

i actually suffer from two problems:

first, my laptop has an nvida geforce go 7400 with a massive lag, if i move the cursor to the side of the screen everything disappears for a few seconds then regenerates again. i guess the graphics card isn't that good

second i tried installing it on another cpu with an intel express chipset and it works fine until i click on the armies where it automatically crashes giving me an error. my laptop is a sony vaio with the capability to switch between two graphic card one being a nvidia while the other is another intel express, when i load up the game using the express the lag is gone and everything is rosy untill i click on the armies, where it crashes giving me the same error.

am i doing something wrong (i installed the directx 9c march edition)? or is it just that my two graphic cards kinda stink ;)

this games looks fun by the way, am a great RTW:EB fan and i think that the ideas implemented in this game go a long way. great job

The graphics cards arent top of the line exactly, but should run things, if not stutter free.

The crash is due to intels old drivers being broken. You need the newest ones. There is information on how to get those in this thread: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?p=8342753#post8342753

I've found similar problems with a few games, not just paradox games, and it seems to be caused by dual core systems (running on windows XP)

The solution is to load the game, then minimise and bring up the task manager. Click the Process's tab and find the euRome process (can't remember the exact name but its obvious) Right click and then select set affinity from the dropdown menu. Uncheck either of the boxes so that only 1 Core in enabled for the game.

Unfortunately you have to repeat this process every time you load the game.

You should find that this fixes the problem entirely.

Mouse Still Jerky

Greetings Folks,

Just purchased EU3 from Gamers Gate (and no they don't give the serial # anywhere that I could find, nor was I asked for one on install and firing up the game) -- but that is another issue), and had high hopes as I've greatly enjoyed both EU2 and DD in the past.

However, the game is just not playable for me with the mouse jerkiness. I tried the suggestions here, and Googled other solutions but nothing seems to work.

I have a 2 year old Gatway laptop, 1.6 ghz dual core, ATI Raedon Express 1150 graphic card, 2 gig's of RAM. I play many other high resource games just fine (though some with lowered settings).

Are there any other suggestions anyone can offer to try? If I can't resolve this, I'll be hoping to buy another Paradox game in exchange because this is just not playable with the mouse issue.

As I side note, I have found nowhere that I can disable the moving sea surf (thought "Trees" and "Map Details" I've already turned off).

Would love to keep and play this game though -- I've put my lust for EU games on hold for long enough! :)

Thanks,
jfp3

I promise you you DO have a registration code in GG. It's not required to play the game, but is needed here to post in the Tech Support forum to get support, I'm afraid.

You're welcome, glad it fixed it for you. I first had this problem playing Grand Theft Auto, and it seems to affect most 3D games I play. Its a shame there isn't a way to keep the game running with 1 core, so you don't have to repeat everytime you load!

Im on this sadly club. In techsupport of EU3 several days ago AndrewT and JPD they are trying help EU3 (and Rome) can run on my laptop. The big trouble is NVidia (for Packard bell, my laptop) is not developing more upgrades being my laptop a powerfull CPU, Ram and NVidia 8800m.

But in my other PC runing as XP but a few years OLDER Eu3 and EU Rome with VV run as faster than a Leopard...

SIGH!
