Lag when moving around the map?

Firstly I must say the map is beautiful, and the camera controls are excellent..

But is anyone else getting lag (jerky movement) when panning and moving around the map????

Me too, I think it has something to do with my graphics card being the bare minimum...

The latest no, as in my opinion they are not always the best... Im running drivers that give me the best results on various benchmarks and as recommended by futuremark?

Had the same problem under Vista, but curiously enough, no problems under XP whatsoever (on the same PC with the same gfx card - nVidia 7600 series).

I'll try to update all the gfx drivers and such and check if it gets better or not.

Vista is usually the culprit when you get performance hits.

I also have an 8800GTX, Q6600...4 gigs of ram though with 3.5 or so posted. I run the game without a hitch, moves perfectly and I run through a month in under three seconds at the fastest rate. <3 my computer...first good one I've ever built.

Difference is slightly too big to just put in Vista though - on XP Eu:Rome Demo is so far the fastest running of all Paradox titles (I assume it will change in full game with more information to crunch, but it's still amazing), while on Vista it takes like 10 sec. to see results of scrolling the map.

Anyway, I'll check with updated drivers this afternoon, I strongly suspect they are responsible for the problem.

Game runs smoother for me than Eu3 and CK do. On Vista, to boot.

I also experience lags while scrolling the map. The worst lag is while scrolling horizontally, other directions are more or less bearable.
DirectX is latest 9.0c, nvidia gpu drivers are also updated. Settings - both ingame or in nvidia control panel - don´t change anything.

Intel Core 2 4300 1,8 GHz
2 GB RAM
GeForce 8500GT 512MB - I know this isn´t a good one. But it should handle
the game, am I right?

It is all confusing, since EU3 graphics are fully smooth for me.

Lol, I have an nVidia 7200 Go and the game probably works as well for me as it does for you At least it's not as bad as EU3 is.

I should try the new video driver with EU3. I wonder if it will clear up that nasty slowness.

That gfx card should have no problems. we have run it on crappier ones with no problem. if you disable trees, does the lag dissapear? Trees are a bit of resource hog.

could you mail in your dxdiag files to support@paradoxplaza.com and note down your forum names, and that its for podcat. Thats for people with lag, and good machines.

go Start menu>Run> and type dxdiag. then tell it to save information to a file and attach that to the mail.

dont expect much to happen until monday though since there is free beer around today

to try and narrow down the problem place mouse cursor over an area of the bottom bar where you get no tooltips (this is important) and scroll the map using the keyboard. do you see a change in lag?
