Lag in .91.1 armageddon

I have not played .91 fyi,
but i have heard it plays fine, but with my .91.1 i am having extreme lag issues (nothing to do with my hardware, so lets leave that out 4 now ). Is there anything that can be done to fix this. I seen a post to check on the TRP website, but i couldnt find anything about fixing it.

Looking around I see that some ppl thing it could have something to do with the naval conference, is this at all likely?
If so, would using the sleep event

I started the post over on the TRP website. I, and some others as it turns out, have noticed an increase in lag after installing 0.91.1 (the latest patch). Before (with 0.91) it was running pretty smoothly. Much less so with 0.91.1.

I too hope someone can tell us what the cause of this is. Lothos knows about the issue, he just posted in the thread. He was a little confused because I mixed the version numbers in the title of the thread and the actual post. Oops

My hunch was the naval conference thingie, because that did not work in 0.91. Lothos thinks otherwise and he is the TRP master, so he should know I guess. But there must be something else then, that has affected lag in the newest patch.

I can confirm this, i had the 0.91 version and did not noticed any lag. but after installing the 0.91.1, the lag made the game impossible to play.
The game was with germany.

Have you guys removed the sprite folder? I am getting no lag and I dont play with sprites so I remove that folder which gives a huge performance boost.

Indeed it does! I had been having that problem as well, but as soon as I removed the sprite folder it went away. Unless you can get rid of the lag that comes with the sprites, why not just do away with them all together? Then I can still imagine that I'm playing an Avalon Hill board game.

I personally like to play with the spites as its more pleasing to the eye to me than the counters...

Does anyone know if i could erase the spites from TRP and put the original sprites back in and play lag free??

They're in gfx\map\units. Just rename the units folder and start the game. You'll get an error message about the game being unable to find any sprites, but if you ignore it the game will load as usual.

had anyone tried to load the units folder from vanilla HOI2 into the TRP, to see if that clears up the lag?

1) TRP has no sprites
2) The sprites you are deleting would be vanilla not TRP
3) The reason deleting the sprite folder increases performance is that the game engine caches all of the sprites in memory (no sprites less work to do)


Nothing TRP can do to fix this. If you want better performance delete the folder nothing more can be said or done.

Lol, i just had to restart the computer. Now i am trying to get the game to run, it keeps crashing as it is very upset that i removed the Units folder..

I am keen as mustard to play this game so i will keep working on it.

When you remove the unit folder it give you an error message popup just click ignore.

Crashing? For me it just displays an angry message about lacking the sprites folder, but I can choose "ignore" and continue loading the game.

No you either have to rename the sprite folder or delete it.
