Hello,

I no longer have EU1. I bought it but I swapped EU1 for Diablo to my sisters boyfriend ( temporarily only ) but they broke up and I'm not getting the game back. ;)

I still had the book though and in the back it has a list of people and the country they worked for and it says there are random events that happen during their reign that are special. But the book says it doesnt want to ruin the surprise so it doesnt say what they are.

Can anyone tell me what they are? Or at least PM them to me so we dont spoil the secret? :D

OK, if anyone does not want to know the secret, then just cover your eyes or look away, I’ll tell you when you can look again.:D

In EU1, during certain monarchs regimes, events take place that try to simulate the policys of those kings/queens. For example, as Sweden, you get the Event; Army Tech Bonus (a few times IIRC), during Gustav Wasas leadership, to simulate the fact that he took steps to enhance Swedens land military effectiveness.

However, you do not get the fancy events with multiple choice opportunities that you get if you play EU2 (if you have read about them in the EU2 forum), so they are actually rather easy to overlook.

What bugs me a bit however, is the fact that if you play and save your game, all further events that were scheduled to take place during this monarchs regime, are lost. This is a problem for me, since I only have time to play in short intervals of one-two hours, not like you coffee-drinking, night-playing maniacs. :D Anyway, this savegame problem actually makes it possible to avoid, for example, the Time of Troubles, as Russia, by saving and reloading your game as the revolts burst out.

OK, you can look now!:D

with no events to spice it up what do you spend your time doing??

are your core shields at the beginning of the game all you're gonna get?

Does Russia/Ottomans/Austrians etc start with all their shields in 1492?

I don't know if I should continue supplying answers to your questions, they might just depress you!:D

The countries you mention start with all their shields from the beginning, no alterations during the game. I recommend, however, that you download the IGC 2.3. That is a definite upgrade from EU1, I think. Don't forget to patch your game up to ver 1.10 while you're at it!

Whaddya mean spend your time with?:) WC's take long time to play through you know! :p :D
