The new Professionalism or Manpower events are brutal. Professionalism takes Eons to gain, as does manpower, and these events rip my countries ability to wage war apart. Unless I just ignore both and merc spam. But thats what I thought this new patch was supposed to encourage us to do, drill our armies and create real troops. But now I just keep getting punished over and over again for it. I just lost 70k man power in under 5 years to "Lack of Officers" event alone, and the Payment of troops one is even worse.

Please can we get these events tuned a little bit so they arent quite so rough.

My only issue is the whole point of professionalism and drilling is to encourage players to play with real armies instead of merc spam.

These events are so devastating, and they happen so often, and there are so many different ones, that ignoring professionalism exists and just merc spamming as always is a much better and more enjoyable way to play. Which kind of makes the new mechanics a bit of a whiff.

Oh and I just found another one, local militias. I either get to lose 5% professionalism (IE 5 years worth of drilling with no war) OR I get to lose over 30K manpower AND get a 20% reduction to manpower recovery.

At least this one gives me 2.5% professionalism when I choose to lose 30,000 men to RNG....

So what? You can also recruit 5 generals and get your 5% professionalism back. I do not see that these events are a real issue. Even contrary, I embrace them as a fast way to get more of this delicate professionalism.

I would consider the profesionalism events so far are quite well done.
You get a few brutal ones, yes. But older events also got changed.
The mercenaries one with the plundering for example now gives 2 prof for the better option.

The reason i consider these well made is that they usualy have a real tradeoff in both options, instead of being purely good or bad.

I wonder if this will become like the "Quarantine Province" issue in the last patch. I had one person here tell me to kill myself for thinking a few ducats/admin wasn't a big deal.
The quarantine event was a pure brainfart in its implementation.
It wasnt just a few Admin.
I can give you savegames where it pops over 20 times a year. Even if it had no cost at all it would have been bad for gameplay reasons alone.
And even if i had been able to reduce the frequency by 95% withquarantening i would have paid 100 Admin a year.

I'm willing to concede that I may have been incredibly lucky, but it was never anywhere near that bad for me. I had a WC where I saw the event maybe 10 times in the entire run, if that. It certainly never hit me more than twice a year, not in about 200 hours. I watched a lot of streamers and Youtubers in that time period too, and I didn't see it anything like the people here tried to convince me.

I have yet to see it once in the new patch, so I guess we all know how that went.

It is what it is. It got nerfed, these new events will get nerfed too.

The most surprising thing, to me, was that the Quantity and Quality events (or other mil groups, for that matter) or ideas had no effect whatsoever on professionalism. I'm like, apparently the peasant rabble you get with Quantity are every bit as professional as the elite forces you get from Quality.
