Labourd is Iberia. PDX, why did you have to do this to me?!

I was having this pleasant game as Granada but now I need Labourd, which PDX for some reason make Ibebia. The problem is that it's owned by France, whose army is somehow 20 times better than mine and who's allied to Commonwealth and, since not so long ago Ottomans.

I feel your pain. IIRC I was one or two provinces short on my re-reconquista game for a solid 100+ years before finally breaking the France-Otto monster bloc. At that point France had half of England too.

It's a side effect of the rule that every area has to belong to one region. It's part of the Basque area currently.

How did you guys even manage to keep France out of the "real" Iberia. I had to fight them for quite a few provinces within Iberia they took from Aragon once they started failing...

But I feel your pain. That's not an achievment one would want to fail at the last steps...

@Trin Tragula , you have two areas with the same name: Gascony and Vasconia, which were the same thing. Just assign Labourd to Gascogne and the rest to something else (Navarra back to Aragon, Vizcaya to something else.). It's not the end of the world if areas have 4 provinces.

Gratak, it wasn't really hard. France never attacked Castile until at one point it was excommunicated and I hopped in too. And Aragon was my ally for a long time, but at one point I broke the alliance and the same thing as with Castile happened (except that with no excommunication). BTW, I've done it! Yay!

I'm one of these weird players (we're out there!) who loves conquering provinces grouped by the area they belong to.

For this reason, that split area that straddles both France and Spain really bothers me if I'm playing either of the two nations, because the national borders don't look as nice if you unite the area.

Something should be done about GP allying each other. GP#1 should not be able to ally GP#2,,, or one GP should not be able to have two GP allies. The same goes for player.. as #1 GP it wuld be logical that GP 2,3,4 would be rivals. But you can ally them usually easily.

GP #1 and #2 happen to be far enough away from each other to not naturally be in conflict, and also happen to both already have GPs #3 through #5 as rivals. Why should they be forbidden to team up against their mutual rivals?
or one GP should not be able to have two GP allies.
That really starts to screw with diplomacy if the #6-#8 slots have significant volatility.
The same goes for player.. as #1 GP it wuld be logical that GP 2,3,4 would be rivals. But you can ally them usually easily.
As #1 GP, you are the most desirable ally, and your interests don't necessarily conflict with theirs.

And none of this is really relevant to the central topic of this thread, which is "why is Labourd part of the Iberian region?".

In 1.18, as Prussia, I was allied with Netherlands, Austria, Commonwealth and Ottomans, so 4 GP, and I was myself a GP. That was fun when a succession war between me and France fire for the Commonwealth throne. Very fun.

I don't like such a strict limit. What happens if you go above the limit because GP status changes? But I would really like to see a rivalry system between great powers. Might have the same effect like what you suggest: Great Powers should almost always be able to rival each other and the stronger a Great Power becomes the more other Great Powers are likely to rival them. For instance if you have one 2000 dev GP and 4 around 500 dev GP they are likely to all rival the 2000 dev GP.

It's a side effect of the rule that every area has to belong to one region. It's part of the Basque area currently.
Some of the changes were related to the old/new fort system, right? Any chance we could get some of those rolled back? This and others don't make a lot of sense geographically and cause weird things to happen with achievements and formation decisions (Italy getting claims on the Baleares is another).

The best case of this is arguably St.Helena being considered part of the New World.

Don't forget Ezorongondo (coast of modern day Namibia) being part of São Tomé area, that's my favorite.

But thankfully, I read somewhere in a post in the bug reports that they're going to at least "revisit some" of the areas they messed up, I mean, changed.

The best case of this is arguably St.Helena being considered part of the New World.
That's been a thing for ages; I don't think it has anything to do with 1.19.

It's a side effect of the rule that every area has to belong to one region. It's part of the Basque area currently.
No. It's a side effect of area based ZoC.

Very frustrating. Labourd, Canarias, Jeju, and other provinces still have wrong area and region. Even though there is no reason for this mess as area based ZoC was canceled, you didn't fix them. I've always advocated Paradox at this forum and other forums of my country, but I can't now. This is absolutely frustrating.

No, it isn't. Labourd was in French region until 1.18.

If you read the post I was quoting, I was talking about St. Helena, which I know for a fact has been part of the New World since at least 1.17, when I needed to take it in my First Come, First Serve achievement run. I never mentioned Labourd.
