So I have a species with the decadent trait (-10% penalty to happiness if you have no slaves). Now I conquered a planet and I decided to purge the filthy aliens by sending them to forced labour camps. But to my surprise my species have a -10% happiness penalty because I have no slaves. Surely... SURELY working a population to their death is a form of slavery???

It's like that because technically, forced labor camps are classed in the files as a form of very slow purging

So, until that gets fixed, just imagine your people complaining about not being waited on every second of the day because all the undesirables are being forced to pointlessly level a mountain range with the bones of their recently burned children

Well decadents don't require slavery because they just LOVE to see other people enslaved, they require slavery because they're lazy and want others to do stuff for them. Pops in labor camps aren't actively out helping your citizens with their luggage, so they don't really count.

For the record, decadents are perfectly happy with robot servants instead of slaves, so it's not as simple as "slavery = good"

Eh, then why does livestock or mine workers satisfy decadents? They aren't actively serving them either. By your logic, only domestic servitude ought to please decadents.
