Updates from the Interim Government

Gentlemen, welcome to the assembly

58728710.jpg
The interim government reports that the ruling cabinet has successfully been disbanded, and all power transferred to the interim government. As of today, France is in re-election period. Agencies report that the collapse of the Leftist government also led to the implosion of the PPSP, losing more than half of it's members in less than a week.

Our agents in Africa notify us that Mittelafrika has successfully bought the Portuguese colonies, establishing itself as the prime imperialist federation within the continent. The funds were badly needed by the Portuguese government, which was facing enormous deficits due to the economic crisis.

In Ukraine, an attempted Syndicalist uprising was defeated and it's leader - The enigmatic Nikita Kruschev - captured. The Ukrainian parliament has been dissolved in favour of a Fascist 'Hetmanate', under central rule of the Ukrainian Hetman. Berlin remains silent on the matter.

In the Caucasus, a series of ethnic and boundary disputes have led to war between the Turkmen Alash Orda and the Cossack Don-Kuban Union. The USSR has announced it will not intervene for now, but our intelligence services in all three countries do point out that the USSR is strengthening it's border garrisons with these nations.

Cossack militiamen push through the forests during the Battle of the Kasin Wetlands
For now, fighting has remained limited to erratic small battles, but reports indicate that both countries are mobilizing their entire reserves and are ready to attack each other with full force.

That is all for today, gentlemen

It's time for the people to truly control de economy, it's time to change the system. No more will bourgeoisie control the economy, control de nation! The world economy is in crisis, and only the socialist nations stand strong and unshaken. It's clear by now the laissez faire system is crumbling. Only the people knows what is best for themselves. In the oncoming elections, vote Socialism, vote Freedom, vote Parti Socialiste des Travailleurs!

1937 elections begin

Gentlemen, welcome to the assembly

Today begin the 1937 re-elections after the unfortunate collapse of our previous government. Before that however, I have some pressing reports to share

55979243.jpg
Our Ministry of Economy has reported France's economy is on the rebound. Suffering little to none damage from the Berlin stock market crash, our indsutrial output has expanded with 12%, while exports and imports have risen with over 18%. Aside from that, the French army has grown from 18 divisions to 36 divisions, constituting 18 mobilized divisions and a large amount of 'reserve' divisions.

More trouble to the East. After a top Imperial summit last month, Japan decided the USSR was a great target for expanding the Japanese Empire. They did not hesitate to act.

78263108.jpg
Allmost the day after, Japanese warships were spotted headed for the Russian Pacific Coast, and as we speak Japanese divisions have landed in Petropavlovsk, Kamtchjaka, and the Commanderisjki Islands. Currently, the area is thinly guarded by the Red Army, but intelligence reports show a large military force is headed East from moscow as we speak. While the Russians have the advantage in sheer numbers, Japanese troops are battle-hardened and well-trained, armed with state-of-the-art equipment and artillery.

More to the South, the right-wing monarchies of Burma and Siam have joined the war on Germany's side, feeling threatened by the rise of international communism. The arrival of German forces narrowed down the odds for the Communist Chinese, who were sucessfully beaten out of the Chinese interior and driven further back as we speak. In the North, the Qing have heavily fortified their besieged capitol Beiping, but one may wonder how long the fortress will hold.

That will be all, gentlemen.

With the power vested in me by the National Assembly and the Third Republic, I hereby declare the 1937 elections opened!

You know the drill guys. A few changes have been made (underlined)

Election rules

- Every registered member on the Paradox Forums has two votes
- You are only allowed to vote once for the same party
- All abstained votes will be given to the largest party during counting
- Voting is done by posting in this thread, according to the example written below
- Voting will last as long as there are still voters. Usually this is three days, so elections will probably end this friday evening. When the elections have ended, we will make a post after which we will count all the votes
- The party with the largest amount of votes will be declared victor, and will lead the formation of a governing coalition.

When you post a vote, do it in a size 5 and bold so it's easy for us to discern the votes from the OOC comments. Example:

I, *username*, vote for *1st party name* and *2nd party name*

I, TRP, vote for the Prussian Conservative Party and the Liberal Center Party

That is all. Good luck to all players, and have fun!

I, Tuore, vote for French Imperial Napoleonic Party (FINP) and the French Royalist Party (FRP).

Hax, vote for us! You wanted to see action!

(The Radio Crackles Loudly)

Good Morning People of France, We Have A special Adress for You Today

Hello Patriotes of France, This is Projekt 919 and I fell a great need to speak with you today. combattants de la liberté you have fought hard and well against the socialist coalitition, the red threat, however a new threat emerges; fascism and dictatorship. I have Founded a combattants de la liberté des parties, a Freedom Fighters Party. Our Policy is Niether Fascist nor Socialist, we propose a France where there is only one rule, and that is French Nationalism. How can the communists and socialists Claim to be Nationalists, when they also preach of wasting french resources and lives on spreading 'international revolution' like in china. How can the Fascists be better than The Communists when thier vision is clouded by fighting other parties and nations rather than working for the good of our beloved France. May I remind you all that the Socialist French Revolution, while succeeding in overthrowing the corrupt and inept monarchy, also brought Chaos, and later the Autocratic rule of the despot Napoleon I Bounaparte who was not even French! The Imperialsists wish for a return to Imperial Rule, The socialists wish to lose france in a sea of socialist nations, cant the people see this? We Here at Combattants de la Liberté des Parties (CLP) we propose te following:

-A Buildup of Industry Behind The Seine, if we put our factories in the calais, they are indefensable if the Dastardly Germans Attack us Again

-The Stop of All Reparations Payments To the True Instigator of The Great War, The Dastardly German Kaiser!

-A military buildup to 500,000 men by 1938 and 1,000,000 by 1940-1941

-The Creation of New jobs by the Reactivation of the Military-Industrial Complex and the continuation of arms dealing to provide extra cash

-The Immediate Withdrawal from any interventions abroad, as all French have but three enemies, The Socialist Pigs, The Imperialist Germans, And Traitors at Home

-A movement to ban all political Parties Except 3 Government approved ones to create order, A Left wing Party, A Right Wing Party, And Our Beloved Combattants de la Liberté des Parties (CLP)

-The Removal of the Socialist Threat Entirely From The Country, before they indoctrinate your childern in thier proposed 'youth camps' and do not be fooled the fascists will try something similar!

-The Eventual Reacquisition of Africa and Its resources for the glory of our Beloved France!

- To postpone war with Germany till were ready in 1942-1943

-To Restore The Principles of Liberte, Egalite, and Fraternitie

-To Restore Our Homeland To Its Previous Powers, And Then Grow So powerful the Kaisserriech Shall be Quaking in its ridiculous boots

That Is all for now People of France, I shall Return Tommorow at Midnight
Vive l' France, Vive l' Our Beloved Combattants de la Liberté des Parties (CLP)

Let's give the voters to see what they vote for again. Our economic manifesto, while essentialy the same as the year before, has a few changes to it (plus the addition of two new points relating to agriculture and trade, 12 and 13).

Economic Policy of the Republican Entente (revised for re-elections)

Introduction - The Republican Entente will base all of it's economic decisions on realistic options and goals, influenced by rational right-wing thinking. Our current candidate for Minister of Economy is unknown.

Goals - During the administration of the Republican Entente, we will aim to create a modernized, secondary/tertiary sector based economy which will be able to: compete in/with any foreign market; satisfy the needs of domestic consumers with a surplus for foreign export; fuel a huge increase in industrial output to serve both civilian and military needs. Minor mixed economy concessions are necessary for the boost of and creating gradual independence for the french economy. Any violations of the laissez-faire policy are only temporary, in place only due to the Black Sunday of Berlin and re-armament policies.

Plans -

1) State funding of coal industry in the Rhone-Alpes region, particularily around the Saint-Etienne coal reserves. Aim to increase the industrial production and coal extraction of the area by 100% by 1939 (modified from 1938, since the ruling government of 1936 took no steps to increase the vital industrial region).

2) Create government foundations to support wine manufacturers who suffer heavily from infestation, bad weather or any other uncontrollable pox. The allocation of those funds will have to be managed by the Wine Preservation Foundation (WPF), which is subordinate to the Ministry of Economy.

3) Begin a massive advertising campaign on behalf of tourism, targetting tourists from France and abroad (friendly nations such as Ireland, Spain) to come to important tourist attractions like Cote d'Azur and the Alps. Needless to say, this shall increase the amount of money pouring into the nation, especially the regions mentioned.

4) Introduce a flat income tax, percentage of which will be clarified after further study. Flat income tax will give incentive to earn more and keep some especially high-profile tax payers here in France instead of letting them flee into tax havens.

5) Pour money into the Nord-Pas-de-Calais area, which suffered immensely in the War and lost a large amount of it's economic competivity. This area was an important steel and textile manufactoring area and we should aim it to become so again.

6) Begin funding of various promising technological avenues which may be profitable to our industries. Especially important are areas like engineering, agriculture and electronics.

7) Support civilian aircraft research and production. France is way behind other nations in it's domestic airlines, and this should be changed soon. As a side-effect, heavy production of military aircraft can start on civilian production lines when the need should arise.

8) Annull french national debt to politically unfriendly nations.

9) Begin construction of freeways - routes in which cars can go from point a to b without any interruption. Essentialy, these should run from Ile-de-France (Paris) to Lille, Bordeaux, Rennes and Lyon. Further expansion of the system is viable, but only after assessing the use of the system already in place. Hopefully this should increase tourism to the southern parts of France (French Riviera and Aquitaine) as well as enable more money to be poured into important industrial areas in the beforementioned regions. Also ensure stable railway expansion to keep running private railway routes profitable in the interests of healthy competition.

10) Provide state "bounty" for universities accepting students in practical fields such as physics, chemistry, mechanics and so forth.

11) Fund the creation of new transport hubs beneficial to the economy, i. e. expansion of the harbour and the estuary in Bordeaux, fundign the construction of airfields near important areas like Paris and Lyon for both civilian and military use.

12) Begin the process of mass mechanization of french agriculture. So far France has been seriously behind in mechanization of the agricultural sector, leading to rather inefficient crops and livestock production. This should be accomplished by a) relaxing tolls on imported agricultural hardware; b ) supporting domestic production of agricultural hardware; c) start a propaganda campaign to introduce the farmers to how tractors and the like are best used, bought and maintained, as well as highlighting the positive sides of such production.

13) Complete abolitions of tariffs with nations who may be politically viable as valuable trade partners. This mainly includes the "catholic block" of countries, hopefully leading way to an economic union of free trade between those nations, which can be gradually depoliticisied, as the stance between nations becomes such that France has no fear of destabilization upon entering a no-tariff system with the country in question. The implementation of this system will be done most carefully to ensure no damage done to french domestic market and currency.
