The People's Republic

Gentlemen, welcome to the assembly

First off, as you all probably know by now, the Left came out of the 1936 elections as grand winner: France is now a People's Republic.

Members of the French Imperial Napoleonic Party discuss their
future policies after hearing of their electoral defeat

Long live Comrade-President Iceman2508!
Unfortunately, it appears not everyone was very happy with the electoral outcome; even as we speak, Rightist parties are furiously debating the outcome, and some parties have even gone so far as to create an opposition government to shadow the cabinet's every move.

In a move of popular sentiment, the FINP party launched an intiative to evacuate French citizens from what they consider 'Communist dictatorship France'. The government has chosen to take a relaxed stance on the matter, to not aggravate the Right further.

Economy. Faced with the resource crisis, the Cabinet has officially announced new trade deals with the states of Brazil, La Plata and Venezuela. The Ministry of Economy has announced French resource imports have risen with 60%, and our resource deficit has been taken care of. Trust in the government has infused the markets with new vigor, further supported by what could be considered as Dollar Diplomacy by the government.

In the Middle-East, the government has decided to sell weapons to everyone. Despite the ethical concerns and the fact that this is a risky operation, it has many advantages for France.

As we speak, French weapons are flooding the Arab and Balkan markets, greedily accepted by the hot-headed states in the ME. The military-industrial complex has reported a surge in demand, leading to increased outputs and profits, and generally advancing the French economy. When the time comes that we'd need to raise our own massive army, these export-oriented military entreprises will surely come in handy.

Bulgarian soldiers from the '4th Lion' division performing field drills near Sofia. Armed with French small arms and artillery, and intent on claiming the holy city of Istanbul, the autocratic state is a force to be reckoned with.
Due to our generous arming of the balkan nations, Germany is facing an increasingly hostile Balkan and ME crisis. The Kaiser is probably breaking a sweat about now; if their old allies Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire start a row, who should they intervene for? Can the Ottoman Empire survive a war against the Arab League? If Germany allows Arab influence to push into the Balkans, Mitteleuropa's backyard, that would severely weaken Germany's position in the world. Aside from our flood of exports, the USSR has also announced it will be selling mass quantities of small arms, along with military aicraft and heavy artillery, to the arab states

What's happening in China isn't helping either. The People's Revolutionary Army has succeeded in piercing through Qing lines, and are approaching Beijing as we speak. The Qing Emperor has fled to the coast, and many believe the weak empire is on the verge of collapse. If the Chinese Communists overthrow the Qing, however, that would leave all of Asia open for their 'reunification'; posing a severe threat to the German puppets in the South. Intelligence services report that Germany may be planning on a direct intervention by sending 200.000 soldiers to Asia, a risky move that could upset the delicate truce between the Internationale and Mitteleuropa at the moment.

It is apparent the Internationale is trying to approach France to plan a three-front war to crush Germany in the future. The USSR has been rather generous lately, sending us tons of military supplies, again allowing our industry to surge forward.

On a completely unrelated note, Haiti declared war on the Dominican Republic. Or was it the other way around? Ah hell, not that anyone cares.

Intelligence. As you probably all know gentlemen, this information is top-secret and should never leave the Assembly. The government has invested in sending extra foreign agents to Belin and Milan, where they have infiltrated a series of large German entreprises, more specifically in the field of panzer-research and naval industry. They will make attempts at copying and stealing German technology where they can, which should able us to create a more advanced army than the Germans.

Now that we're talking about technology, the Ministry of Technology is proud to announce France has completed research on better combat aircraft, infantry and artillery. Great progress is being made!

With our infantry researched up to par with modern standards, the government has begun 'expanding the reserves', as they call it: A sly move to secretly increase our military by circumventing the Orléans Treaties.

Then some less joyous news. Comrade-President Iceman2508 caused a small diplomatic incident by being careless; portraying himself as a Communist leader in diplomacy with an already schizophrenic Germany. The result is a severe drop in already strained French-German relations, leading to total diplomatic fallout between Paris and Berlin. As a result of this amateuristic move by the President, opposition has claimed he is unable to rule France, and are clamoring for his removal in favour of a more hardened President from either the PPSP or the PaJ. I'll keep you posted on the issue.

That is all for now gentlemen. May the People's Republic prosper!

Yes, that move made more sense than selling to China and help fuel the terrorism of the Internationale.

Crisis on Balkans we could gain something from, but the war in Asia will be won by one of our enemies anyway, the Germans or the Internationale.

President Iceman is an dictator! People of France doesn't want dictators! The president has lied us about his democratic ways and now we need to replace him!

France is not a People's Republic, that oversight shall be corrected.

Indeed, this was the sticking point that was agreed would not happen for the RLF and PaJ to enter government with the PPSP.

I would also propose him as the president, even though our hectic argumenting in the liberation act thread wasn't that pleasant. But he's shown that even if one of his arguments are won (which apparently happened in our discussion), he can come up with another one. He's covered his grounds well.

Why do you hate the government so much?
We are all the same, we should work together to bring peace and love to earth!
Remove all guns and weapons! Support everybody! Every human is the same!

:p

(There's the core of an idea for a new party but I doubt it would be very popular in a Realpolitik game :p)

(Actually a buddhist pacifist party did quite well during EPU, altough it allied with some Western seccessionists, thereby gaining some votes. After the elections, it abandoned pacifism.)

While I glorify the People's Republic of France, and Iceman's wise policy of offending the perfidious Germans...uh...er...

...isn't ethics the only thing that actually make syndicalism appealing to the working class?

"Oh come on! Ethics? Pshaw, that's for reactionary scum! We're revolutionaries who want to bring social justice, even if it means helping everyone kill everyone else! YARGH!"

Wait - by no means we want a president from the PPSP! PaJ or the RLF instead.
