Gentlemen! Paris is under attack!

42010762.jpg
The frontline reports that the Germans have begun an all-out assault on our capitol. The defenders are heavily outmanned and outgunned, and desperately need orders from the government!

77945741.jpg
The National Assembly* has fled the city! Only the government remains. The president is dead! Mon dieu, how did we ever come to this. Président Stormbringer has taken control.

91137967.jpg
The treacherous British have fled France like rats! General Blanc has been encircled in Dieppe trying to defend their evacuation, and 100.000 of our men are now facing destruction!

42389210.jpg
Our fronts have crumbled like sand castles! Our supply lines have been destroyed! The war is lost! THE WAR IS LOST!

73032331.jpg
Our armies have been trapped! They have vowed to struggle untill death, but how long will their valiant defence hold?

Our navy has been annihilated, our economy lies in ruins. Dieu avec nous brothers, we have been defeated! The war is lost! ALL IS LOST!

What do we do now?

It was all a long time ago...
I will never forget that day.

The following is a full list of all parties existing in La Republique. Visit the Party Rallying Grounds on our forums to join a party

------

France First Party (FfP)

324px-VichyFlag.svg.png

Led by Vesimir

The France first Party is an alternative.

When the rightists scream their anti-communist propaganda, they treat the simple man as a worm, a cockroach. For them, there is no equality for the people. They are misguided, and have forgotten that the purpose of right-wing ideologies isn't fighting the left-wing, but giving the nation a strong leadership that they can count on.

When the leftists promise an utopia, they are idealistic. Many of their ideas are valid ones, the people should be equal. But idea that that the people could all rule at once is flawed. Even though the majority of the population is good and hard working, there were, are and always will be rotten apples and black sheep. Communism is perfect but the human race isn't.

We offer an alternative. We believe in the leftist ideas of equality and prosperity, but we also believe that a nation cannot exist without a strong leadership chosen by the people. We offer Fascism. We offer equality in a possible way. A socialist country that is led by confident and strong people.

The France first Party offers a realistic Utopia.

French Imperial Napoleonic Party (FINP)

512pximperialcoatofarms.png

Led by Tuore & VonGraff

The French Imperial Napoleonic Party strives to return France to its position as a key power in world politics. We have been eclipsed by nations such as Britain, the United States, and Germany, unable to defend ourselves, and unable to further allow our glorious realm to prosper and expand. Our once proud colonial empire now only consists of deserts in Africa, and we must make the best of them; hopefully there are precious substances underneath those sands. Our possessions abroad have also been threated, as Indochina begins to slip further away from our grasp. Finally, there is the home front, where France is sadly lacking. We wish to build and industrialize, to develop and to prosper. France must not sit back as the rest of the world expands while we stagnate! We must be true patriots of the nation! None shall stop us! Vive la France!

Entente Républicain (ER)

logo.png

Led by Quaazi

The Republican Entente (Entente républicain) is a rightist conservative party.

It fiercly opposes communism/syndicalism, is a defender of the catholic traditions and as such has no love for liberal social reforms, supports both big and small business and is a voice of the bourgeoisie, is more reactionary than pragmatist in foreign relations, does not support aggressive expansionism per se yet has no quarrel with it, supports conscription as a vital tool to a strong and large army.

It's goals are to create a strong, soverign state that can look after it's own interests without foreign support and is a major voice in the world, a state with christian charity as a base for any social care, a state at the forefront of technology, economy and industry, a state which is prestigious and envied by the rest of the world.

------

French Royalist Party (FRP)

flagfrance.jpg

Led by Lighthearter

The French Royalist Party believes in the establishment of an electoral monarchy over France. We are mostly center in our beliefs, though with a slight right-wing element. We will form coalitions with any party that seems to uphold the same values we do.

Vote FRP! Vote for the future!

------

Parti Jacobins (PaJ)

Partylogocopy.jpg

Led by The War Monger

Parti Jacobins is a centre-left party which has at its core, the 3 values most important to the first republic. Harking back to the days of the First Assembly the party follows a more liberal line than many of its colleagues with the belief among the party that the idea of Laissez Faire should be abandoned so that the government will be able to improve the country directly for its people. The Parti Jacobins is outspoken in its rejection not just of the extreme political parties but also vocal in its opposition to those countries retaining a vestige of monarchy talking of them with disdain and relics of an age past.

------

Parti Socialiste des Travailleurs (PSdT)

french_flag.jpg

Led by gll25

Born from a dissidence of the PPSP, the Worker's Socialist Party is a different way for Socialism in France. Aiming for a descentralized government, one of the party main policies is the cooperativization of agriculture and industries, where all the decisions will be taken by all employees, and all laws should be direclty voted trough referendum. Public health, transport, and education systems must be improved and expanded, providing more jobs. The working time must be decreased, the salaries, raised. The bourgeoisie must disappear, and the means of production will be controlled not by the state, but by the people itself. Socialism is not one of the ways, it's the only way!

Fourteenth of July Movement (14JM)

FrenchRevolution-2.jpg

Led by Iceman2508

People of France, the Revolution of 1789 did not end with the tyrant Bonapart, it will not end until each men is rewarded to meet his needs, each women becomes equal with her man, and each child has a safe future through free healthcare and free education. The People of the world have long been exploited through the vice known as Capitalism or greed. Capitalism kills children, puts frenchman in poverty, and the last war has shown that the Upper class will send the lower class to the trenches for profit. It is time for Change, time for a new beginning for the new age. Socialism is the way of the future, Socialism will end Human vice. Socialism will make equal the people of France, and the people of the World. A world with no racism, no classism, no one being treated different because the world is one of money. Down with the Tyranny of Money. Let each man be given a job, good pay and a way to support their families. The Socialist Revolution will not end till this has happened, just as the Revolution of 1789 did not end on the 14th of July with the storming of the Bastille. We call ourselves the 14th of July Movement to do honor to those who stormed that prison of Monarchism and Reaction. We only hope to have that Revolutionary courage in the days to come.

Rationalist League of France, Ligue rationaliste de la France (RLF)

500px-Flag_of_France_svg5.png

Led By Kalelovil

For too long the French people have been misled by politicians blinded by ideology and driven by emotion and instinct rather than reason.
France has seen its position in the world wane and our territories taken from us, precisely due to our participation in a war which was not carried out in the interests of the French people but rather due to foreign bribery and notions of loyalty to nations most of us have never heard of. Figures on both the left and right are complicit in our participation in the disastrous war as both sought to use it to their own political ends without any concern for the people of France.
On the battlefield our past leaders betrayed us again, as a undue dedication to tradition and a failure to see innovative solutions lead to a string of devastating defeats. Those among our military who did possess the skill to turn the situation around, rather than just political connections, became victims of government interference. Our nation still carries the scars of the disastrous campaigns today, physically, mentally and economically. We have become a subdued nation when we were once the powerhouse of Europe.

Dieu le Roi

arcjoanofarcengraving.jpg

Led By Apricot

The horrors of the Weltkrieg and the political ascendency of the Pope in Rome triggered a surge of Catholic sentiment across Europe. The masses, sickened by the wickedness of Earthly rulers, turned to tradition and faith for protection. The Carlists of Spain and the Zentrum Party of Germany have arisen to fight the good fight and defend the faith. The people of France have answered with Dieu le Roi (God is King).

Dieu le Roi’s beginnings are shrouded in mist. It reached national attention in the late 1920s when apparently spontaneous gatherings of peasants at pilgrimage sites across France declared that the will of God would sweep away the corrupt kings of Europe. These mass gatherings continued to grow and clarified their goals in the Edict of Tours, which has since served as the guiding document of this populist movement. Dieu le Roi clearly existed previous to the edict in certain clerical circles. The organization claims to be descended from a secret organization established in the Vendee during the revolution.

In the years since, Dieu le Roi has built a strong following amongst the industrial and agricultural working class of France. Sites of pilgrimage and faith healing have become host to torch-lit political rallies where demagogic priests whip the faithful into a rapturous frenzy. These rallies have in turn evolved into bonfires of indexed books and midnight marches to show the strength of the faithful. The upper echelons of the party are populated by activist clergy. Strong connections to Masonic and Rosicrucian circles are in evidence, but denied.

Yay! political AAR is back!

Damnit, ninja'd :D. Zeldar, could you delete that post and repost it here? It looks kinda off having a stray post inbetween our menu posts ;)

To everyone that hasn't heard of la Republique or Realpolitik before: It's an AAR concept where players can start parties, organise themselves and vote for who gets into government, the government basically decides how the game is played, and we react to all decisions as game hosts. You could say it's a mix of DandD, Republic games and HOI. La Republique has been ongoing for a while on the AOD forums, we paused it due to finals but we're allmost done now so we intend to continue the game in summer. Since our AOD build crashed we moved back to the (more stable) HOI2DD Kaiserreich, so the thread is located here now

Everyone, join the French Imperial Napoleonic Party! We are currently the most powerful party in LR!

My god, this thread has been in existence for less than three minutes and you're already recruiting? Impatient Imperialist! :D

Laurence

Thread might have existed for mere minutes, but La Republique has been in existence for two months!

See you boys switched back your old avatar :D.

True dat

See you boys switched back your old avatar :D.

Laurence was not a fan of the Red-blue, so he eventually coerced me into picking our old avatar again. Maybe it's better this way with the rebel flag, it is more of a reference to our partisan randomness and has no reference to a country. So, yes, we're back in black :p

Still some GFX that need background fixes but I'll solve that later on. Do you guys want us to copy all the update post of the Prologue to this thread too, or will the current system do? They're not in this thread, but you can still access them as the Index leads to the old thread with the updates.

Vincent

The next update will be a more comprehensive look at the world and what exactly happened after the prologue. Does anyone have specific requests? Like a look at Asia, South-America, the new Soviet Union, etc

Soviets all the way!
