I have made several apology threads but the FINP come out and attack me and claim they want power, that I ruin France despite the general advancement this government has made to better France. France is in a better position then this Government found it.
Well that's a lie. Before your government there was still a chance to get out of the Treaty of Orleans, you blew it. Likewise did your government blow negotiations with OAM and the Colonials. Instead of a new ally, and the prospect of reunification in the future, relations with Algiers are worse than ever. France is in a more vulnerable situation now, becaue your government can't handle foreign relations.

Reunification? You mean reestablishing mainland france iron fist rule over the africans, right? Then what's the purpose, but I really can't expect that much from a Bonapartist.

Destroy the Communazis!
Down with the Tyrant!

Song sung in several pubs all over France said:
The Communists will make off with your children.
They'll come after them in the night.
We're not safe until the government is changed
They'll come stalking us at night
Set to sacrifice our children to their monstrous youth program
They'll wreak havoc on our naton if we let them wander free
So it's time to take some action, boys
It's time to follow Democracy
Through the streets, through the field
Through the darkness and the shadows
It's a nightmare but it's one exciting ride
Say a prayer, then we're there
At the golden gates of presidential castle
And there's something truly terrible inside
It's a beast! He's got fangs
Razor sharp ones!
Massive paws, killer claws for the feast
Hear him roar! See him foam!
But we're not coming home 'til they're changed--
Changed and gone!
Kick out the commies!

We'll rid the nation of this communist.
Light your torch! Mount your tank!
Screw your courage to the sticking place!
We're counting on Democracy to lead the way!
Through a mist, through a wood
Where within a haunted castle
Something's lurking that you don't see ev'ry day!

It's a beast! One as tall as a mountain
We won't rest 'til they are good and gone
Sally forth! Tally ho!
Grab your rifle! Grab your artillery!
Praise the Lord and here we go!
We don't like
When our freedom is at risk
In fact it scares us
And this monster is dangerous at least
Bring your guns!
Bring your knives!
Save your children and your wives
We'll save our nation and our lives
We'll kick out the commies

Raise the flag!
Sing the song!
Here we come, we're fifty thousdan strong
And fifty thousand Frenchmen can't be wrong
Let's kick out the commies!
Kick out the commies!
Kick out the commies!
Kick out the commies!

And how would you handle the treaty, unlike you, this government has had to work with actual issues, not just complaining about them. By the way if you look at the updates, you will find that France is going around the treaty.

We would have been more careful with the Germans, certainly not announcing we're a Communist dictatorship. We'd use the fear of the Internationale by claiming we'd need the ability to defend ourselves from Communist agressors. We'd also sign a treaty of non- agression with Germany, if that's what it takes to get rid of the treaty. We'd probably not ask for the whole treaty to be anulled righ away, but ask for some revisions first.

The Colonials we'd treat with respect and try to increase trade with Africa and create a military alliance with Algies. In time we'd move forward on reunification, but we wouldn't hurry. OAM's declaration that the Opposition parties are allowed to work in Africa is a positive sign, that shows they are still open for diplomacy.

By Colonials you mean all people in the colonies or only French & descendants? I'm sure the arabs of Algeria and Tunisia want independence, not respect.

Outside of the Presidential Palace
The President along with a large troop of the Republican Guard move outside the Palace gate where a Pro-Iceman2508 crowd as come together, while anti-government protests take place near by.

Iceman2508

Gentleman, do not fear my bodyguard. The Commandent of the Guard has assured me the Guard must protect me from any violence that has been directed towards me in letters and protests. Recently, due to the upsurge of political unrest, many such threats have been issued agaisnt my person and the Office of the President. I have come to meet my supporters and to thank them.

Member of the pro-Iceman2508 crowd

The opposition threatens you in cowardice! They will overthrow the Republic! We will form the barricades if we must!

Crowd of Opposition supporters in the Distance
Down with Communsim! Down with the Tyrant! Resign! New-Elections! Free Elections! Down with Socialism. Down with the Communist Dictator!

Their chants countine and are heard everywhere

Iceman2508
It is not the opposition that threatens me. They are an honourable set of assembly men who wish what they think is best. Although there rherotic has helped give caused to deranged men who would attack us with violence.

I have come to say that I shall not Resign.

Member of the pro-Iceman2508 crowd
Hurray! Down with the Reactionaries, we shall defend the Republic and Democracy!

Crowd of Opposition supporters in the Distance
Resign Tyrant!

Iceman2508
I shall not resign since my Government has won a majority of votes in the past-election. But I can not allow the Republic to fall to pieces either.

Member of the pro-Iceman2508 crowd
We shall defend the Republic!

Iceman2508
Please gentleman, restrain your emotions for now. This Republic shall not disappear into a state that is ruled by a government that lost the vote. But this government has made mistakes, but it also has had success in other areas.

Crowd of Opposition supporters in the Distance
No Socialism in Education! No Youth Groups, Down with the Iceman-Youth!

Iceman2508
Success, such as the Resources Crisis. When this Government came to office the national economy was about to fail due to a lack of material. This Government has supplied the factories and inturn the factories have created jobs, or atleast perseve them. After that success, the opposition claims we have stolen their own plans, while stilling calling our plans for the economy Socialist.

Member of the pro-Iceman2508 crowd
Non-sense! Socialism will help the common man! It shall feed my children! Where is this Socialism you promised us Mr. President.

Iceman2508
I have tried but to mantain a coalition of parties that all have common vision but different ideals does conflict. As part of this Coalition we have to give in and not appoarch Socialism head-on. We need to be moderate, although the opposition will not accept that either.

Crowd of Opposition supporters in the Distance
They have started to sing:

Raise the flag!
Sing the song!
Here we come, we're fifty thousdan strong
And fifty thousand Frenchmen can't be wrong
Let's kick out the commies!

Member of the pro-Iceman2508 crowd
Who cares for the opposition! They shall bring France down, We must move without them.

Iceman2508
That Comrades is not possible. The Crisis this Republic faces demands a face to face engagment with the Opposition or else. I will not let French blood be spilled into the streets, but I shall not resign either. The Assembly seems to be going through a motion of zero trust but I will not hold those to be legitimate since that the Assembly is in a Opposition-induced terror.

Instead I will propose an election, yet again, to the Cabinet, to the Opposition and the courts. If we lose, this Government shall obey. If we win, hopefully the opposition will not need a third election to prove us the legitimate government of the French Republic.

Crowd of Opposition supporters march towards the Palace
They sing

So it's time to take some action, boys
It's time to follow Democracy
Through the streets, through the field
Through the darkness and the shadows
It's a nightmare but it's one exciting ride
Say a prayer, then we're there
At the golden gates of presidential castle
And there's something truly terrible inside

Iceman2508
I must resign myself back into the Palace, my Guards demand it of me.

Iceman2508 reenters the Palace through the gates. The Guards lock and man it.

Member of the pro-Iceman2508 crowd
Reactionaries, Election Revisionists, Bonapartists!

Crowd of Opposition supporters at the Palace
Communisms, agents of Marx! Traitors! Anti-Christ followers!

The Police and Guard manage to form a dividing line been the different protesters.

So this is politics...

I think it has something to do with the fact that (Charles Louis) Napoleon III was a complete failure as a politician and general. Or, while not a complete failure his career ended in a massive f* up that was Franco-Prussian War. Nobody wanted to remember him, instead they all remember Otto von Bismarck who managed to crush all Napo's dreams in few months. History is that of winners, not losers.

Our game made you start chain-smoking? Damn, we're good :D

Nah, j/k, but this is something you need to know before you hop into a government; it's no walk in the park, more of THE SIEGE OF JERUSALEM DURING THE THIRD CRUSADE! Obviously, in LR-games you can choose your level of involvement; if you just want to chill out and post here and there, join a party and stay out of government, if you want to do unaligned IC stuff like FlyingDutchie, you can host your own minigames, we're not forcing anyone to do anything. But, obviously, if you want to be President, you've got to be ready for this stuff. We have a saying in Belgium(and the Netherlands) that goes 'Higher trees catch more wind' :D

It has been noted that the President refuses to resign, your speech will be added to the index. Aside from that, me and Laurence had a cool idea: When LR is over we will make a ranking of the three best politicians based on their strategies here. These three 'winners' will receive a special, TRP-certified cookie and their own rank, based on the way they behaved during the game, 'Barking buffoon', 'Happy amateur', 'Ideological crusader', 'Backroom Backstabber', etc etc :D
