Chosroes does better-Persian Khosrow (roughly.) Persian names often have some strange transliterations.
There's others that could be described as the greatest king of Persia.................and you may be in the wrong forum here too.
Khosrow Anosiravan sounds like the puppy your looking for, King of Sassanid Persia in 7 cent. Quite a guy.

Although I'd be more than willing to argue in favour of other candidates as the greatest-Darius I or Cyrus for example.

He is the guy that found the Varus site, and this is a first rate book about it, half factual archeology, half fictional story to fit the facts that archeology has confirmed, about how it all happened.

Isn't Kourosh = Cyrus? So the person in question most likely is none other than Cyrus the Great.
I'm almost certain that Kourosh == Cyrus, as in Cyrus the Great, King of Kings et al.
I'm told that Kouroush is the latter day pronounciation from 400 AD or so, and that classical persian it would be pronounced like See-roos or Sowrosh. Hebrew version of Cyrus is Koresh, which is where the wacko from waco got the inspiration for his name.
