Honestly this is largely me tired of purging one province albanian culture even as friendly humanist commonwealth, come on guys would two provinces be so bad?
If you find good sources from the time period, stating that Kosovo is majority Albanian, I don't object against it.

Splitting Albania into 3 provinces would be better anyway, with *limited* flamewars.

*any balkan thread incentivices flame wars.*

I have a question for you.

No really i do.

Seriously.

Why just 2 provinces, when real men split it 3 way?

Holy provinces batman! I wonder what effect multiplying provinces has on blobbing. In theory it would make WC harder.

If youre as cool as me, and have as mad-pro skills as i happen to have, then you can make conquering and coring provinces cheaper, just enough, so that the feeling is roughly the same or slightly different - if you (or i) so choose.

Its insane what you (or i) can do.

Edit: btw someone posted a picture of me on previous page. Just so you know, i grew a beard. Its a different time now. I do still wear that uniform around the apartment though. Even kept the harmonika.

Ah makes sense. Is this your mod? Maybe I will try it out. What do the low countries look like?

After i made my first EU3 mod - ~350 provinces Balkans (it used to take about 6 hours of work to add 1 new province) - i learned not to do that ever again.

And even though i can now add ~40 provinces / hour, the Low Lands in my mod is slightly more detailed than vanilla. So nothing insane.

so according to this the region hadn't even been part of Serbia for very long..and there were definitely alot of albanians in the region
No seriously, are you trolling us? The map you're showing shows the kingdom of Serbia firmly over Kosovo.

I don't think you should see eu4 province culture meaning other cultures were not present. It is just a majority culture. The game makes a lot of abstractions.

Jebus you take away modern borders and no one knows geography.. Only the most north and eastern parts of Kosovo are part of Serbia in this picture... the same parts of Kosovo that still have a Serbian minority population

You may be right, if so I apologise but my reasoning is thus: in the image the k of Serbia includes prisithia, nisa and shkoder and is just north of Skopje. (Sorry for the spelling here) That contains where the province of Kosovo is in game, no?

You previously brought a written account suggesting the majority language and naming conventions in the area were Serbian, which might suggest serbian majority in the area.

Reality is that in 1444 Albanians were not a majority even in all territory of modern Albania. Also before the Ottos Albanians, Serbs, Greeks and Vlachs mixed among each other as they were all Orthodox Christians and we all know that faith was way more important that nationality at that time. We all know who Skanderbeg is right? Fun fact, his mother was Serbian. :)
And when it comes to names of people it really comes to who wrote those names. Same persons name can be written down in 3 different ways, Greek, Latin or Serbian(old church Slavonic).
Also there are plenty of evidence that Kosovo was a center of Serbian state at that time period. There are also Ottoman records.
Only later, under Ottoman occupation there were culture shifting and Serbian migrations not just from Kosovo. Basically at some point Serbian church sided with Austrians in Austro-Turkish wars and that made life harder for Christians in that area. That started migrations of Serbs(not all), but also some Albanians. You can google Great Serbian migration for more info.
Those Albanians that left with Serbs are today probably considered Serbs. But there were also much more Serbs that stayed, and some accepted Islam. Those that changed religion were not considered Serbs by christian Serbs or Serbian church. Same thing happened in Bulgaria and Greece with people that became muslim. Now islamised Serbs that lived in areas where Albanians also lived or where Albanians came after that land become empty, started to identify with Albanians, and they were later called Arnauti.

Culture shifting is strong in Balkan :)

P.S.

In 1444 Albania was not a country and there certainly weren't and independent nation named Albania before that time. There were only a revolt against Ottos that included regional lords from territory of some parts of modern northern Albania. Those lords were not just Albanian but also Serbian, and possibly Greek. It was called League of Leche.
