I have looked at the civilized post, but anyway I'm in 1902 and i'm still uncivilized due to military score. Can anynone advise me about what to do?

Other advices concerning playing with Korea will be also welcomed!

Build up a huge sum of cash, buy the required resources and then buy the required amount Hussar brigaded Cavalry you need in one go. Each of them give you 0.1875 military score, so calculate how many you need in order to reach the military score needed to civilize (25 in V:R and 10 in Vicky) before you do it. Remember that the military score is a rounded number, so if it says 5 it can be 4.6.

Well taking into consideration that it is already 1902 cheating is all what left. Depending if you playing Vicky or Ricky you have 18 or 33 years ahead which isnt exactly a lot.

I play Ricky+VIP so... If you start new game.

First stabilize economy and acquire money ASAP. You will need $$$ later to pay for all units you building till you civilize. Max spending on education, crime and defense. Taxes at 50%. Above that is a bit risky. Korean revolts are nasty.

With Korea there is a problem of military score. You can overcome it in 2 ways:

1. Praying for event to fire which add 1 division to force pool. ;) Not working every time, need a lot of luck. If event fire 2-3 times you'll need only 30 native INF instead 60.
2. Turning as many POPs as possible into soldiers. Which give a lot of MP.

Because with Korea you have no capability to buy large quantities of artillery and so on, just focus on spamming native INF. With 60-62 you should break past that magical number 6 (if you have VIP installed, with standard Ricky it is very much impossible - you need 25!). At certain point you will sink deeper and deeper into debt. Even native INF cost a lot to sustain. That is why acumulating wealth is very important. And once you get civilized disband all that rubbish. Dont worry you wont return to uncivilized once you Civilize.

*** I hope it make sense I writing this reply for like 90 minutes, did like 20 breaks because of job commitments. Right now Im wasted, just submiting :eek:o ***

If you are playing VIP:R 0.1 or 0.2, then you have to remember that civilizing rules changed in VIP - as noted in the game change notes for VIP:R 0.1 in the changelog - it's no longer about having 20 mil/100 prestige etc, its about discovering a whole basket of techs.

As noted in Vickywiki :

If you are playing the Victoria Improvement Project (and you should) the requirements for civilizing change. Instead of score it requires the following:

The Score

10 Prestige
6 Military Score

The techs

Early Railroad
Ad-hoc money bill printing
Market Structure
Army Professionalism
Naval Professionalism
State & Government
Empiricism

The Inventions

Ministerial Government (You need State & Government and Empiricism for it to trigger)

Once these prerequisites are fulfilled you should be on your way to civilizing, but since the civilizing event isn't actually an event, but an invention it may take some time before it triggers. So have patience.

I do believe the said 6 points are too much. If it were scores alone, ok, no problem. But score + tech, it's almost impossible, even for medium sized "who could have been civilized irl".

Couldn't the two systems be mixed: Huge score alone (100 prestige, industry and mil) and minimal scores (positive prestige/industry -financial health- and a minimum military force) + techs?
Right now, it's all about luck: If you get your random free div event, you'll become civilized, If you don't, you're screwed! No matters all the boredom, planning and discipline you followed 1836 onward. :(

Thanks to all, i'll try starting again from the beginning, because when i realized my mistake and civilized it was already 1932.

Another question about Korea, when I try democratising an event happens returning me to presidential dictatorship (even when civilised), what can i do?

It's because the party you have in power is an authoritarian one. Before making you democratic reforms, just set a new ruling party, like normal conservatives or normal liberal.
