I'm not sure if this trait is part of HIP or vanilla, but I've seen it on some of my characters even if they haven't murdered anyone. The strangest example is on my 14 yr old son and heir! He must have lead quite a childhood. I thought maybe it was dynastic for a generation or so, but my character doesn't have this trait.

Anyway has anyone else seen this? and is it a bug? and what mod adds this? is there a cheat to get rid of it in the meantime. I don't mind having, but I want to earn it first.

With this and the raised levies bug 2.3 is unplayable. I don't understand why PD doesn't test the patches.

PDS, apparently, assumes that if they just release early code with open beta patches that Paradoxians will be willing and able to test their patches and provide useful formal bug reports in their Bug Reports Forum. There are a number of reasons why this expectation is probably unreasonable, but I can think of another: many of the type of people who could/would provide useful bug reports play mods like HIP, and an awful lot of would-be bug reports get distracted to our forums instead. :glare:

Current theory in our forums seems to be that the raised-levies bug only occurs when retinue units are merged with levy units. If this is true, simply disabling the LoR DLC (thus disabling retinues) on 2.3 and observing whether that fixes the problem would provide useful feedback to PDS and possibly also provide an immediate fix to the observed problem.

I can't agree that the Known Murderer bug at all makes 2.3 unplayable. So people have a tendency to like each other 10 opinion less. Big deal. At least it happens to essentially every character in the game.

I'm not apologizing for PDS here; I'll be the last person that you'll catch doing that. I'm definitely a proponent of helping resolve the current issues with the patch, report distilled issues to PDS through the proper channels, and having fun with the latest stable stuff (ours and theirs), though. Let's hope (and do our part to ensure) that the next patch resolves all these issues and more.

Could you throw "features implemented in HIP that don't work" in with that? :p

Particularly the "no more ahistorical empires" decision, goddamn that has been bugging me. I basically need to keep going with any nesto games until the Abbasid's properly combust or else they're way too much trouble and it becomes easier to get to Europe the long way around (through Africa).

What they like to do is, shut whole games down devved by other people because of bugs, but don't adhere to the same standards themselves. La la la.

That said, there is usually a cycle between a bug being reported and a timeline to when it can be gotten to and maybe it missed the release time and is in the next cycle. Who knows.

Wait, huh? What about 'Remove Ahistorical Empires' is making the Abbasids more trouble (presumably on vanilla map in the 769 bookmark?), or failing to make them less trouble (should it?)? Specifically.

Not at all.

I just generally find they're more manageable when the title is titular though, it changes their ability to handle rebellions/allows for Egypt to run free. Honestly, I'm wary of most "de jure" kingdoms too but you guys got rid of "Greece" at least, so thats a boon :p

As an example, Ireland, the whole island, shouldn't have a de jure Kingdom title. At best there should be a titular title with some flavour if you get get x objectives completed but the concept of a de jure Kingdom on that island, or any authority not within swords reach having any goddamn meaning, is a bit odd. Then again a lot of these things are grandfathered in as new mechanics and ideas are introduced that invalidate them.

Honestly I'd argue that anything above Duke should be titular in most cases, it'd make the map far more fucking dramatic.

Unfortunately, every province must have a de jure kingdom in CK2 (or it crashes). That's been the case since TOG.

Wars of the Roses mod used a work around by assigning all land to a non-creatable de jure 'crown lands of England'

Not a bad idea... though I think we are running out of sticky thread real estate. :)

Ahem......... As a loyal HIP player who is now incapable of playing vanilla anymore. May I be so bold as to say I sincerely hope you spend nari another minute on discussions with such trivial and absurd nature's as those dealing with the ridiculously bugged WoL and 2.3 patch?

I truly believe, more than enough of the extremely valuable HIP modders' time has been absolutely wasted digging through the maggot infested pig slop that is WoL and 2.3 code.

Sorry just really felt going on that little rant would help me a little.

Keep up the good work fellas. Right then..... Cheerio mate. :p

So is there a console command to remove the 'Known Murderer' trait? It is annoying that when you are living on the edge of revolt, you always have an unfair -10 opinion with everyone. It sure would help if I could console command that trait away when I shouldn't have it.

Just giving this thread a bump as I asked a Dev about the 'know muderer' bug in the main forum after the latest patch release. He said he wasn't aware of the bug and they hadn't seen it during any of their testing.

Lead me to think it might be a HIP bug afterall, rather than a vanilla one? Either that of the devs are blind!

The devs are blind. We'll give them a bit longer before we try to figure out what in the hell is going on with the events which apply that character modifier.
