Is it only me thinking all this is a case of DRM freak gone bad? What sort of anti-piracy were you guys trying to achieve by creating protocol for the access to the subforums for your game?

Really …

It seems that you don't understand the intention …

It's a great and honest way to keep guys with pirated copies away from the forum and prevent the valued customers from being bullied by tedious forum posts of all those people who just play a game since it came out.

These kinds of games live on and need a lively community to be played.
There's nothing wrong and just honest against the ones who bought and play those games for it's pleasure.

It appears this has been down for almost 5 days? Sure I understand about the holidays but whomever allowed this go for 5 days without a resolution should be replaced. People bought games for Christmas and can't register them. It's not the end of the world, it's just a game, but at the same time there are plenty of other games and game companies that wouldn't allow their registration system to be down for days when there are big sales going on for their products.

How about a little professionalism here folks?

@Smartcom:
101% agreement.

But as "valued customer" I didn't see my advantage.
I bought the game and don't have access to the forums. A severe setback.

Paradox didn't offer a workaround or a fix within a given time, only apologies. For me, as "valued customer" since early 2003 (HoI), this is far to little.

even thought it is annoying the DRM they used is better than in Simcity 5 that you could not even play the game.

as long as it gets fixed in a timely matter (withen this year to before Feb 1) i am happy.

I guess I don't even understand what the problem is. Paradox says it's their "host's" problem but even if their site is hosted they are still responsible for the code being hosted right? Then it's showing a database error which indicates to me that either the embedded forwarder is incorrect (that would be paradox's responsibility right?) the databases is offline (paradox as well), the database is generating errors based on the codes (still paradox). How is this a hosting issue?

Hello, I joined today and succeeded to register most of my games except for: Crusader Kings 2, March of the Eagles, Sengoku. These three are still rejected with "Database error" message.
I bought all my games on Steam and I'm fetching keys from Steam's "show serial number" device in their client.

I think it is just the Code reader thing is derping around since i can get the DLC registered but not the base game(s) which is odd. same i got Ck2 and Hoi3 and cant get the base game registered. i wish the system noticed that I have the DLC that means i have the base game.
all we can do is wait which is unfortunate since i want some help on why is Hoi3 crashing and mods for Ck2.

Let me tell you why your comment infuriates me point by point.

Yes, I said it angers me, so anyone who don't like reading flames, then skip it.

It's a great and honest way to keep guys with pirated copies away from the forum...

First of all, it is me and us, who paid for your game and decided to put up with your bullshit DLCs instead of taking the CHEAP AND EASY WAY of acquisition: Pirating, that are being blocked here. It is all those people who stayed honest and loyal to you, the publisher called Paradox Interactive, that are actually suffering. If I hadn't bought it, and illegally downloaded the game, I wouldn't give a shit about this situation, and nor will many people who have been complaining. What you are saying in that sentence is that you are completely disregarding the fact that people complain when something doesn't work WHEN IT'S SUPPOSE TO.

Someone said above, "It's still better than DRM from SIMCITY5," which didn't even allow people to play the game. To me, that and this are all the same DRM bullshit. The only difference is either it applies to the game or the group community. What disgusts me more, though, is the fact that your DRM is being applied to USER CREATED CONTENTS. I am not simply referring to mods; I'm referring to all the posts related to your game that US USERS should have free access to including guides, discussions, ideas, and stories. They are all created by users and it is users who should be deciding the accessibility not your shit server and third party company or DRM in general.

THAT SAID. You quoted,

These kinds of games live on and need a lively community to be played.

And yet quoted as well,

and prevent the valued customers from being bullied by tedious forum posts of all those people who just play a game since it came out.

Yeah. You aren't doing a fabulous job at keeping the community lively. Aside from the fact that you actually calls people who seem to be proving their utmost loyalty by purchasing and playing your game since, or even before, day one of release as "TEDIOUS BULLIES," your comment suggests that DRM is a way to make a lively community that will last! I dunno how things work with Martians, but down on earth a community is built and kept lively when it is open to EVERYONE! Do you need an example? Bethesda! TA-DA! Bethesda doesn't DRM user created contents by creating forums of their own and then deny access to people unless they provide passcode for DRM! Look how big their community is, look how many loyal customers the company has, look how many copies of their latest games sell each time they come out!

...There's nothing wrong and just honest against the ones who bought and play those games for it's pleasure.

ASIDE FROM THE FACT THAT YOUR DRM IS ACTING LIKE A BORDER GUARDS OF A DYSTOPIAN SOCIETY, IT IS SIMPLY DISTURBING THAT YOU ARE BEING A PROUD AND ARDENT REPRESENTATIVE OF ITS BULLSHITNESS! I AM NOT HAPPY! I AM ANGRY! OTHERS MIGHT NOT BE ANGRY AS I AM, BUT THEY ARE DISPLEASED WITH THIS! THEY ARE NOT HAPPY!

With that, I conclude this flaming.

P.s. Inb4 forum ban and deletion of this post for pissing off Paradox Interactive by actively denouncing their misplaced DRM.

since people cant seem to read Ill help the forum manager out by quoting his post, then pointing out this is NOT a paradox related issue, they just use a shitty host

Hi Guys we are working with our hosting company to get his fixed, their support is limited by the Holidays.
I apologize for this inconvenience.

Remember that registration is not required to run the game or DLC.
If you are having a tech support issue you can log a ticket at Paradox.Zendesk.com

Again my apology for this inconvenience that happened at the worst of times.

Truthfully, it's really nice that /gsg/ actually had some mod download links for me, but I also discovered they had all the dlc/expansions/actual game available for download too. This type of thing is what absolutely encourages people to pirate. I got better support from anonymous people on the internet than I did from paradox. WTF.

Day 7 of this being broken without any idea at all of when it might be resolved.

This forum is based on modified vBulletin code but vBulletin wouldn't normally support a break/fix issue with customization. Generally hosts don't do anything except provide bandwidth and a server for the code but don't support the code. The forums otherwise appear to be working so it isn't a bandwidth issue. The server that the forum is running on is obviously up. I suppose it could be one failed service/daemon/PID that is causing this error but I would think paradox would have the ability to determine that and start it. Most software companies wouldn't allow a 3rd party to control the database with their licensing information so I suspect that isn't what is being hosted. For that matter even if the hosting company had the last 6 days off, most people went back to work today, so why isn't it fixed now?

I'm not sure I believe that it's a hosting issue but regardless I'm not likely to buy another paradox game anytime soon. Mistakes and problems occur in every organization. How they handle it demonstrates their dedication to their customers. All I've heard so far from Paradox is "it's not our fault" which is simply not an acceptable answer to your customers.
