Supply Weirdness: Bug or Player Lack of Understanding?
The understanding I had of supply was that you could be supplied form your ally's territory and any territory you took therefrom would be his territory. However, in my current MP game I have witnessed supply problems with my troops that I find inconsistent with that explanation.
I am Germany, and Italy is my ally. I have Vichyed France and they are both my puppet and my ally, as it says they are in a war with me and Italy against the filthy war-mongering allies who declared war on me and invaded Germany. As part of our response, I moved some panzers to Africa where they proceeded to assist the Italians in liberating Egypt from the Imperialist war-mongering English. However, immediately I noticed that while moving across my ally's territory, my panzers were out of oil. I queried of my ally who informed me that, yes, he was moving oil from Italy to Tobruk. Nevertheless, I ran a convoy from Bayonne to Tripoli, and my oil problems went away. This is inconsistency number one. Why were my panzers not supplied with oil on my ally's territory?
Once the liberation of Egypt was complete, we drove on to liberate the oil supplies of the Middle East. Our Panzers rode into Palestine to much rejoicing from the local population. We then declared war on Iraq and drove into Mosul through Damascus, our puppet ally Vichy's territory.
Lo and behold when our panzers entered Mosul, they claimed it for GERMANY, and they are out of supply! How is this? Then, my mech infantry went into the province below Mosul from Amman -- taking territory out of Italian territory being supplied by Germany, and that province also became German and out of supply! I now have to hope i can drive to Basrah and the coast and establish a convoy before my panzers die from lack of oil -- lack of oil while sitting on top of some of the world's richest oil reserves! And adjacent to my allies' territory.
