Reseach bonus doesnt lessen time needed

I researched Advanced Electromechanical computers and it doesnt seem to do any for research. The description says the following is gained:

Flak +20
Industrial Efficency total +5%
Theo R&D max Time inc -15% -This being the expensiveGold tech blocks that are around 6 months(180 days) to reasearch and open up the cheaper and faster applied research areas. Correct?

Well wouldnt this mean that a tech that takes 180 day normally takes only 153 days? Well This isnt the case at all it still takes 180 days to reseach.

crap i didnt see that bug on the list. I'm going to have to look more carefully next time. The ironic thing was that I checked first before I started to research the techs in the first place so that I didnt throw 3 years of research down the drain. i was in too much of a hurry to play with my new found tech strategy it seems.

Industrial efficiency is different. It reduces the amount of resources your factories consume to make ICs. So if you had 100 ICs and researched polyurethane, you'd only use 190 coal, 95 steel, and 47.5 rubber for your factories. You can see this effect on the report pages.

Unless of course the tech is intended to increase ICs in which case it's not doing so... ;)

not true. They help reduce teh need for resourses which can be very critical. It becomes more and more difficult to get the resources needed to use the german industry at full capasity. The more conquest the more difficult. (until you get the USSR) so +5 % here and +10+ there can add use to huge resource savings. and I beleive it also means that your supples are being created 5% more effifently. Its really is quite useful to research the industry techs.

HAHAHAHAHA. Every time I have played I´ve gone into the war as germany I´ve had 99999 in every resource. Saving resources are completely useless as there is a lot of them going around. The only reason for the industry techs are the improved conversion rates if you are low on a resource, and those negates the usefulness of the savings anyway.

During a war with a large industry base germany starts to lose thier reserves in rubber as you lose 1/2 your trade returns at war. This helps to stop teh bleeding. Granted it very easy to get 99999 in oil and rubber but thats a seperate and flawed aspect of the world market when I'm at war i change all my trade to reources i could get In real life so I trade for 50 oil to 60 oil from the balkan states and I try to reduce rubber requiremnets via tech. Its an exploit to use the world market when at war if you cant access the markets. Sure the AI does it too but thats Ok it needs all the help it can get.

You dont have to play with known exploits.

Who needs the market in the war? I have enough resources to mange full production anyway. The only way to get into a problem with resources is to try to actually loose and what´s the fun in that? I play to win.

Also I don´t see why some indusrial tech shouldn´t increase output. For many nations this was far more important than saving on resources. The US for one and the USSR for another aren´t nations that shouldn´t be worried about resources but should welcome increased output.

So as germany you can capture enough rubber to subbly your ICs? Its a known exploit to be able to stock pile 99999 in rubber and oil before war breaks out. I play to win too but I dont send my bombers on tac runs agaist landunits continuesly because its a known exploit.
try fighting the war by liniting your trade to 9999 in oil and rubber. Reduce your oil trade to area that you have land routes to and stop all trading for rubber until you have access to the markets ie you can send a convoy to the area and beable to defend it. This make germany far more difficult to play and far more interesting and far more realistic.

as i said before you dont have to play with exploits

I'm not saying it shouldnt by any means I'm just saying that the current techs arent useless if you dont use known exploits.

So one shouldn´t be able to trade even in peace? Why then having it in the game? You call it an exploit. I´d rather use the word foresight. Strategic reserves aren´t an unknown concept. Nevertheless I have actually tried to do it your way without trade and having small deposits. Still no problem. After a few adjustments I still have no problem with resources what so ever. That´s were the conversion techs get into play. They are the only one really needed.

Want a challenge?
Go into Province.csv in your db folder and tweak world wide IC for major nations. I made Germany and friends have higher base IC and I was struggling to get the resources needed. Also cutting the amount of rubber in Kuala Lampur and Kota Bharu from 300's to 120's will make an impact world wide. You feel the burn then ;)

*Snicker* Devious, I like it. :D

I might just take that one up. The only problem is that the others are far more likely to feel the burn. Speaking of improving IC´s I think it could do with an overhaul. I cannot get it into my brain why building 1 factory in a 30 factory prov would take as long as in a prov with 1 factory.
