Paratrooper Crashes

I just bought this game and am playing my first game. I am Germany and it is 1942. I have conquered Russia and I just annexed them. When I fly my paratroopers back to Mongolia and drop them on the capital, I crash every time. Furthermore, the saved game I have where I had annexed Russia and positioned the paratroopers crashes the game when I try to load it. I have to rely on a good save from a couple of (game) days before when the paratroops are in Vladivostock just prior to annexation.

I have an Athlon 800 with 512mb ram. I have about 500mb free on my C; drive. My video card is an Geforce 2 MX400 with 64mb of ram. My sound card is a Soundblaster (64? whatever was current in 99-00).

I was going to attach the saved games, but I don't see a button to do so.

Is it the annexation or the paratroopers?

I ask because I seem to be having problems with annexation. I went back to my saved game, annexed Russia, and decided to not send the Paratroopers to Mongolia. Instead, I looked and saw that I could also annex the Netherlands and did so. The game crashed about 10 seconds later and the save from right before I annexed the Netherlands but after annexing Russia crashes the game when I load it.

Annexing a nation that has another nation as a pupprt will CTD.

I guess that means that you have to conquer the puppet as well and annex that before you go to the "main" annexation..am I right on that one?

Conquering the mongols first fixed it.
