Expeditionary forces

I'm copying this across from general:

I sent a expeditionary force to help out nat spain after they joined the axis (got there just as their capital fell too), knowing the AI would just let them sit around I controled them myself. I found that while I could fight the republicans and liberate Nat spain provinces I couldn't take over republican ones. Why not?

Also, I found I couldn't march my ex force into madrid from the north or west but I could from the south or east and some days not from those sides either, is this a bug?

Is there a reason your not getting the game from SP? Its still a fun game despite the complaints.

Well mine could fight just fine and were in supply and could free republican held nat spain provinces, they just couldn't capture republican ones. Its all very strange.
