In 1400, the Byzantine emperor sold the despotate of Morea to the Hospitaller knights. The knights held onto it until 1404. Is that long enough for them to deserve cores on Morea in 1444?

I am pretty sure selling a province removes your core on it. So since they sold it rather than lost it in a war. No the Knights should not have a core on the land they sold as intended by internal game design of selling a province.
