Would you like to see Knights and the naming of Knights by their lords in the game?

Maybe a system similar to the AGOT mod could be implemented to the game.

Of course Knights are limited to West only but for the Byzantine Empire we could name them "Akrites" like the legendary warriors guarding the borders of the Empire perhaps.

What do u think?

Well u could knight your trusted advisors, your vassals (they can be both knights and lords), your commanders etc. . Maybe having Knights as commanders could give u a slight boost in battle.

A system similar to the Knight system of AGOT would be perfect aka take your son for instance as a squire at the age of 7 and then if he is worthy knight him at 16-17-18 whatever.

Or you can have your vassals offering their sons as squires to you in exchange of a favour, or vassals/councillors/lords asking knighthood in exchange of money (if you have the greedy trait perhaps) or favours.

Or even your liege can knight u if you excel yourself in battle, kill someone important, imprison the enemy leader, capture castles etc.

Eh. No. That is a very late interpretation of knights. During the most game timeline every lord was at least a knight. Knighthood orders were a newer phenomene. What you describe is more of a Early Modern Era thing.

You can't knight somebody who is already higher ranked than a knight.

I see no problem in adding a bit more flavour events regarding knights.

Well Edward the Black Prince was knighted in 1348 and he was already a Duke for 10 years.

For game purposes we can limit it to unlanded characters only or councillors without land etc.

The problem with knighthoods is that I'm not sure how much flavour it would actually add. A lot of the mythology of knighthood only came about after knights had ceased to be military relevant. Before then, knights were just members of the low nobility. The basic courtiers who show up in your court but who have a family name and crest are probably knights.

The reason knighthood plays such an important role in the GOT mod is because the setting plays around a lot with the perception versus reality of knighthood. It's a setting where you have all these pseudo-chivalric ideas of what a good knight should be like, but ultimately knights are just soldiers and capable of being just as nasty as any other medieval soldier.

What would knighthood do in the game?

99% of the characters ingame are already higher ranked than knights there is no reason to knight anyone...

Knighthood isn't just a title, it is also honor and all nobles weren't knights. What do viking-traits do in the game?

As I said... what you describe is a LATER knighthood system. Or a very English one. This wasn't how knighthood worked during the most middle ages and was generally more a early modern era concept.

This is the one thing I would really like to see more of in the game :)

A trait related to knighthood for martial courtiers/commanders would be really nice, as well as something squires, pages etc. Basically something that gives knights a real presence in the European side of the game! Right now, all they really have is heavy cavalry in the form of levies and knights certainly aren't levies. They're professionals. Having cavalry/knight retinues will fix this but those retinues are still culture exclusive and even so, the cavalry retinue has about 50 HC and 200 LC i believe.

I would be very happy if knighthood, and anything related to the minor nobility could be added to the game. Something that would make those nephews, cousins and kinsman too far in the lines of succession to matter seem a bit more interesting to players

More events would be great too. There's only a few I can recall that have anything to do with knights. There's a grand tournament which can't be used too often, as well as events about hedge knights. I would like to see them have a bigger role in events especially battlefield-related. Knights are very interesting to me and I can think of many ways they would make the game feel more fleshed out for european feudal lords.

At the Battle of Bannockburn, a Knight named Henry de Bohun charged directly for the King of Scotland intending to kill him and end the battle. In CK 2 terms, Sir Henry was the nephew (or cousin, varying sources) of the English "Marshal", the Earl of Hereford and not in line to inherit. He was of minor nobility within the de Bohun family and he is hardly mentioned anywhere in history outside from his role in this battle. I think stories like these are very relevant here because it shows what knights and minor relatives within a family can do to make crusader kings even more enjoyable than it is!

TLDR; I agree with adding traits, events and seeing knighthood more heavily entwined with characters who aren't particularly in a position of power (courtiers, distant kinsman)

Just thought i'd express my thoughts because this topic has literally been on my mind for years concerning this game and I love Crusader Kings II. I'm sure something like this could be implemented without changing too much about the game
