New king in Portugal - Carno II (7-8-7)

Carno – just like his predecessor, he likes to try out new things, goes with his feelings and is adventurous. Is one of those who just can’t handle money. He doesn’t like the aristocracy, with their old ideas. No, he likes to hang out with the common man. Especially the sailors. Carno also likes dresses. And handbags, shoes and lipstick…

hehe, sorry for disturbing, I was curious.

Cobjor, it was a long time from Defeat is certain, you as BB, hope we can play something together again in the future, you seemed very polite to me considering you were newbie since then. :)

I, Gontran, am mostly disapointed by the step back from King of Spain about the gold mine he agreed to sell me. Apart from the fact that we are now Reformed, I consider that this can loosen our friendship even further. I am ready to buy it with more gold if this can help King of Spain to change his newly made mind about this deal.

The Duke of Brandenburg doesn't acknowledge any Czar's authority besides provs with orthodox religion!
His assault vs Poland (2 vs 1 war) appears without honour, like as his other times!

I quite agree, what an awful fellow the Comrade chappy was, I however as the new Czar will strive to be honourable and friendly to all :)

yes as dr. bob allready said in his aar rebels in poland have finaly been defeated. and lawful king is back on the throne. that nasty coup was obviously perfectly timed by the group of people known as 'deuche telekom' right at the begining of the war. Rebels where unfortunatly maintaining power long enough (using redicilious maximas like 'modem reported unknown error' and 'diled computer does not respond' ) to sign that shameful peace. destroying army, fleet, and offcourse empting state coffers in the process. fortunatly polish king known as expert in these matters found cure for this rebelion using strict and cruel policy of 'reinstaling' and severe punching main suspect who goes by the code name 'modem'. after a while 'modem' recognised his error and returned to service as again loyal and obidient servant. in the future he'll be kept under supervision for some time as obviously he can't be trusted.
all efford are also taken to find where royal treasury is hiden and hopefully it can be retrived. (some generals where also found missing in the chaos, hopefully they are still alive hiding somwhere).

In the opinion of Sessurea the Wise, Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, the provinces taken from Poland during the time of regency should be returned. Poland was clearly not capable of defending itself effectively.

The respectful and happy Czar, Dr Bob must disagree with this proposal, by the time the King of Poland was displaced half of his army was dead and so most of Poland was either under Russian control or being seiged.

However the new Czar also says that he now longer holds the hatred towards Poland that the old one held and he is willing to discuss future peaceful relations.

Ottoman Empire 1548-1568: The Glorious Victory against Catholicism

Sessurea the Wise sat on his throne. He overlooked his realm. The army was larger and better lead than ever. A NAP was signed with Austria. This was the perfect time for expansion in another direction. Now to find a target... Ah! The muslims in Morocco have been oppressed by catholic Spain for too long! They should be freed and welcomed into the one Sunni Empire. To do that however, the fleet needed serious expansion. So, the following years saw a rapid expansion of the fleet to 600 galleys. Preparations were made for an attack on Spain. Forces were moved to North Africa, lead by Suleyman and Leonardo. These consisted of around half the total army force of the Ottoman Empire. Another quarter guarded Hungary, since it was expected that France would use its military access through Austria to intervene. The last quarter was on anti-rebel duty, and these could be quickly redeployed to assist in the defense of Hungary. All was ready...

War was declared. Portugal honored the alliance and joined in the defense of Spain. Battles enraged around the deserts of Fez and Tangiers. Leonardo used cavalry armies in swift movements that annihilated enemy armies. Suleyman in the meantime used an infantry force to push south and gather momentum versus Spain. The Portuguese navy had been reinforced to such a level were the navies of Spain and Portugal outclasses the Ottoman navy, so the victory had to be gained over land. Suleyman got cut off from the rest of our forces a few times, but with ingenious tactics he was able to fight off his enemies in the mountains. Suleyman lived and claimed many land for the Ottoman Empire. France then DoWed us. This was not totally unexpected, one catholic King helping out another. The French force in North Africa was quickly defeated by Leonardo however, together with a Spanish force. The French then retreated from this scene and instead focused their attack through Hungary. Then, the unthinkable happened: Austria declared war upon us! The evil Austrians broke our NAP. This is without honour. Quickly, more forces were recruited in Thrace and Macedonia to meet this new threat. Outnumbered 2 to 1, the Ottoman forces were still able to hold off the Catholic assault. When reinforcements arrived, French forces were quickly cut to pieces on the plains of Hungary. The great French generals, Guise, Montmorency and Team France all died on the field of battle. France, with virtually no army left, then signed a white peace with the Ottoman Empire.

In the meantime, the war with Spain was going well. Eventually, we had so much hold over Spain that his declines of our peace offers for Tangiers, Fez and Toubkal caused instability in his own lands. With 7% revolt risk in national provinces and several italian provs already in rebel hands, the Spain King saw the wisdom of surrender. Fez, Tangiers and Toubkal were gained. Then, the Imperial Armada ferried Suleyman and Leonardo back to the battlefield in Hungary. Austria, now without support, had retreated into its own country and prepared a defence. Quickly, Suleyman and Leonardo raised new armies and joined the imminent attack ('zergling rush' :p). Suleyman started an offensive in the north, taking Carpathia and sieging Moravia. In the south, general Osman sieged Steiermark. Lala Mustapha threatened Odenburg with his cavalry force, and Presburg was sieged by Leonardo and his cavalry. With Steiermark, Presburg and Carpathia in Ottoman hands, Austria quickly surrendered Presburg to avoid further advances. This was a wise decision by the Archduke. More provinces would have been demanded had the war continued... The Archduke is an oathbreaker, and the Sultan will never forget this insolence...

The rest of the session was spent on bettering the economy and converting the last heathens in the Empire, a task almost complete now.

Last years of Duke WilhElio

The Duke was old and sick, in this age the political life in Brandenburg appeared paralyzed, because none assumed the liability about decisions in administrative and military fields. Our economy became weaker both in trade and in bureaucracy.
Our allied Austria kept on the fight vs Sweden and the war gave the freedom to german people in lands of Schleswig and of Holstein, but Brandenburg didn’t give any help in this occasion. Our fleet is still ridiculous to fight Sweden in Baltic Sea, but needed warships weren’t built due to stab events and lower MI. We need more soldiers in our armies to protect the provs from northern dangerous neighbour; why Sweden doen’t look at new explored lands in America, where there are enough resources to start a big colonization?
Our weak neighbour Poland was attacked again by generals without honour in a 2 vs 1 war: Russia got orthodox ex-lithuanian provs, but saying only lies looks now at ruthenian people (different culture) and sunni people (different religion) to build an empire.
Nobles in Berlin were invited to acclaim a new Duke soon and in that Diet Cornelio von Braunschweig was chosen to lead the Nation, but our conditions don’t permit enough production and structures to get more gold. In foreign policy some actions were made:
- new Duke renewed the mutual military treaty with Austria, offering him the exchange to manage our fortress in Münster because Holstein can be handled in an easier way by us;
- peace proposals were sent to the rulers in France, Spain, England, Portugal, Netherlands (290d left to pay) and Poland to confirm Our precedent positions. The Doge is invited to express his position in foreign policy for the future wars.
Besides the Duke would proclaim a Congress about common declaration vs aggressive policy seen in last period by Sweden, Russia and Ottomans: NONE is safe alone in his capital, but united We can win vs them and gain gold and lands. The future global wars must be leaded by land forces, by naval forces, by trade, by diplomacy and by gold, otherwise we’ll be only lambs in front of those two wolves: in fact Poland is only the first name on their list, Brandenburg will be the second one and so on …

Waiting for Your answers,
Duke CornElio of Braunschweig

The Ottoman policy is not as agressive as the Duke of Brandenburg would make it appear. We merely sought the unison of muslim lands. It is the Archduke of Austria who was the belligerent one when he broke a Non Agression pact. If any common action is to be undertaken, it should be against this dishonourable country.

The New Czar wishes to state his intentions, he will not pursue the war-mongering of his predecessor, such expansionism has a time and a place and Russia is now beyond them, we wish nothing more than peace and time to concetrate inwards.
However any sign of aggresion towards Sweden will be punished.

Ivan the Bosun: The Tale of the Grand Russian Fleet

As a young lad in the warrens of Moscow and the Kremlin, the brother to Dr Bob had been always been uneasy, the cruel rule of Comrade Bob meant that intrigue and assasination was common, and it was no exaggeration to say that each shadow held a dagger.
And so young Ivan Bob grew more and more afraid and nervous, each passing year made him more and more eccentric and many feared for the heirs sanity, eventually the Comrade decided to disown him and make Dr Bob the heir apparent. However even the cold-hearted comrade could see that Ivan needed to get away from the court, and so he sent the Prince to eversee the building of a Russian fleet, to protect Russia and to help the Swedish fleet if ever it needed it.

As it turns out the sea air and the strong winds were just the thing for poor Ivan, and he took to the water like a duck to ...um... water. Under his command the shipyards began to churn out transports and galleys, nearly 1 a year. He pioneered new tactics, such as resupplying without needing to unload soldiers, a tactic unheard of even in navally developed France. His fleet was instrument in bringing in Russian troops to fight for Sweden in the 2nd Hansa war. However young Ivan always knew that if Russia was to be taken seriously it needed to be able to project its power out of the Baltic, and for this it needed battleships-ocean going ships that could take a light breeze without toppling over and exploding. And so Ivan designed and built his pride and joy "The Executor" a battleship with 280 guns arrayed in broadsides and was almost 600 feet from prow to rudder. A true behemoth it was in construction when the Comrade died suddenly, however Dr Bob saw the potential that russia could have if it had its share of the seas and he promoted Ivan to Grand Admiral of the Russian Fleet, however to all his men who remembered him fighting alongside them and chopping up timbers for the Executor he was affectionately know as Ivan the Bosun.

However Ivan had one more plan up his sleeve, he wanted the resources of the New World open to the Russias, and so he came up with a plan to explore the fables lands of the West, where gold is used as a cheap part of road construction and pearls were used in places of stones for getting peasants out of your way. And so the plan was approved and men and material gathered and ships fitted, although none as grand as the Executor, and they set off with Dr Bob's blesssings from Ingermland and out into the Sund, following the sun....
