Greetings.
I had several attempts to improve Georgia in EU4. Playing as a Georgia doesn't seems fun, besides being stuck in Islamic world, it has nothing special to be attractive. by having randomized provinces and few tags It lacks atmosphere. Caucasus is homeland of hundreds of different warlike tribes/ethnicities after all... of course every ethnicities won't be represented but several nations are esential, at least for having fun playing in the Caucasus region.
this thread is only concentrated on the topics related to Georgia.

Adminsitrative subdivision of Georgia
- I have split Svaneti (1) from the Imereti province based on several reasons. Svaneti is homeland of Svan people, who are subgroup of Georgians, formally dependant of Imereti, it was ruled by local nobles known as Dadeshkeliani and Gelovani. Imereti province is mix of lowlands and hills covered by forest, while Svaneti is very mountainous province, which was never conquered by any foreign invaders except Russian Empire in 1858.
- Klarjeti lately known as Adjara (2) was changing in hands of Georgian principalities of Guria and Samtskhe, it was finally conquered by Ottomans in 1547. during Ottoman period, area was target of Ottoman Islamization policy and many locals gradually converted to Islam. Adjara was liberated by Russians in 1828 and made into independnet Batumi oblast.
- south Armenia and Georgia, especially Kars (3) and Samtskhe region was frontiers of 3 empires in different times. after treatry of Amasya (1555) principality of Samtskhe was split between Ottomans and Persia. Ottomans took Adjara and Tao, while Persia got Samtskhe and Kars. in the next conflicts Ottomans managed to defeat Persians again and fully annex region. on the newly incorporated areas, Ottomans created "Gurjistan vilayet" (Governate of Georgia) ruled by house of Jaqeli, ex-rulers of principality of Samtskhe. Kars is Armenian core province, with Armenian majority, while Samtskhe is Georgian province.
- Mtianeti (4) is generalized name of eastern Georgian mountains, populated by Georgian mountaineer communities, it deserves to be represented as a separated province for different reasons. demographics of eastern Georgia was not simple, except having Kartlian and Kakhetian identities, which were evolved and based on rivalry between feudals, there were also Burgoises from the towns, especially in Tbilisi and Mountaineers who partially or never adopted feudalism and christianity, their mindest, tradition and law differed from the lowlanders. Svans and Mtiels along with other north Caucasians, like Ossetians, Circassians, Chechens etc shared same mountainous mentality. Mtianeti is very mountainous region. Georgian legal codex “Dzeglis Deba” was created specifically for Mtianeti region during the reign of George V of Georgia (1286/1289 - 1346).
