I pressed my mother's claim to the Kingdom of Lotharingia, where there was a succession dispute in progress. Except there seems to be a problem. My mother is now the King Bishop of Lotharingia, not queen, and her successor is not listed at all in the character portrait. My character is the only son, though. The Kingdom of Lotharingia has Papal investiture. Does this mean that I cannot inherit the kingdom (or king bishopric, if you will)? Or can she have a successor with elective succession?

King Bishoprics do exist, and occasionally a younger brother of a king who has been since made a bishop but still has a strong claim will have his claim pressed by a faction, and poof: you now have a king bishop.
The only thing is, this is supposed to only be possible for men, since there are no female bishops in this game, so this sounds like a major bug to me.

Erm - no. Female King-Bishops are not exactly unknown in the game. The easiest way is to claim a theocracy with a female claimant. If the only holding of the current King Bishop is a solitary Bishopric and you claim it with a female claimant, you can get a female King Bishop.
Female bishops can be made with Absolute cognatic as there is nothing preventing you from revoking bishoprics and granting them to daughters with that succession law.
what propably happened in the above mentioned Lotharingia is that a bishop with strong claims won before Maidros pressed his mothers claim
If she was landless when you pressed her claim, what probably happened is that upon winning the war she usurped land from the current King and it just so happened that she usurped a county that had a bishopric as its capital. This can create a King-Bishop. I've seen this many times, even with women. Unfortunately I don't think you're going to be able to inherit the kingdom.
What if he loads the game as his mother, then revokes a barony title in his capital, wouldn't her county capital automatically switch back to the barony?
If he plays as his mother, I think he'll just get game over, because technically she doesn't have any feudal holdings of her own. Like being a mayor.
Hmm, if you have free investiture, you could keep playing as a prince-bishop if you just kept selecting members of your dynasty?
