Been trying to kidnap the Pope for quite some time now. I have looted and sieged Rome at least 10 times and yet I still can't catch him. and before you ask I made sure he was there defending in Rome.

What is the best way to catch the pope? is running it back 12 times hoping to catch him right or should I be doing something else? Maybe find a way to vassalize him and then I can simply imprison him.

I've even tried to make grabs for other religious heads instead, but the Ecumenical Patriarch is too well guarded being buried under Constantinople, in one of the most powerful nations in the world, the Tengri High Priest is always being used as a Court Chaplin (besides its a pain to get all the way to the shore of the Caspian Sea) and its a real pain to try and kidnap the Coptic Pope as Alexandria is also decently fortify and has bad attrition (the Tulunids turned Miaphysite somehow even got the holy order to form). And don't even suggest that I try kidnapping the Caliph (the Sunni one that is, I'm pretty sure the Shia one is dead or being ruled by some Tengris)

How exactly am I suppose to find a religious head and sacrifice him to the Norse Gods if I can never catch one

I don't know the exact answer but this title made my day, "Kidnapping the Pope" lololol

But there's another way to unlock that achivement. Play as Byzantine Emperor, educate your child with Varangian Guard captain. He will be a Norse when he grew up... When he succeeded the throne, imprison Ecumenical Patriarch and sacrifice him for almighty Thor!

I'd suggest you hide in a closet, cuz the FBI will come knockin' on your door.

You can't capture a ruler through a siege. Only in battle when he is leading his army.

I have never managed to imprison a ruler by sacking their holdings. I think that you'll only capture them by defeating an army they're leading in battle. Kings have reduced capture chance too so it's going to be a huge long shot.

I think I've seen people advising to play as the ERE, switch to norse and just imprison your Patriarch vassal.

Sounds like a plan. You DO need an empire-tier title to vassalize the Pope.

I've read that you can capture people by raiding if you siege down th holding. If not how are people getting concubines from raiding other religions as pagan. Although I never played pagan enough where I purposefully raided people on the intention of capturing brides or people so I can't 100% confirm it.

Hmm, if this site wasn't being watched by the authorities before its likely is now.

Seriously though I don't think you can capture title holders outside of battle or imprisonment if they are your vassals, if you siege their holdings you might get people from their court but that's about it.

You capture women, children and courtiers like this. You don't get the ruler themselves.

Nobody landed can be captured through siege. The pope is landed.

If your capital is near the Byzzies, they will sometimes send the Ecumenical Patriarch to try to convert you. You can then imprison him, etc
