Chapter 7: Invading the Catholics
[1302-1310]

Khan Ghengis having secured his borders from the Muslims sent his horde against the eastern christian states. The first to fall was Hungry which secured the last holy site.

Next The khan pushed his forces into Bohemia and Crotia

n97C21I.jpg

A few years later he swung his forces back to conquer Poland. Of all his recent conquests, the Hungarians gave him the most truble. As such, he gave the Khanate to his cousin.

Khan Ghengis now prepares his forces for the biggest campaign yet. He now seeks to dismantle the Holy Roman Empire.

I know this was a short chapter but I wanted to have an entire chapter dedicated to the war with the HRE.

Chapter 8: Invading the Empire
[1311-1323]

Khan Ghengis declares his invasion. He sends his horse archers to ravage the north while he sends his vassal's armies to the south. Kaiser Eberhard sends 20,000 troops to the north. Unfortunately they were no match for the Mongolian horse archers which have ravished Europa for the past century.

fGkC0Fw.jpg

The stress of the war was eating at Khan Ghengis. Having already suffered great pox for most his life, he felt weak. He passes away in 1313 leaving all his titles to his Half-brother Bogen, Khanate of Arabia. Bogen gives away his former Khanate title to his son.

qpZxy68.jpg

The empire fights valiantly but there simply is not enough soldiers to stop the endless wave of horse archers. In 6 short years, the empire falls. The emperor flees to his last holding in southern italy.

8MAdkTL.jpg

The pope, distraught of their defeat calls for a crusade to retake Italy. Having recently conquered the HRE, the Khan's retinue of 50,000 horsemen were already in southern Italy. Bogen and his horsemen rode to Rome to conquer the last christian holy city. Pope Mark II calls every christian leader and holy order to his crusade. However it wasn't enough and the horde was triumphant again. At the crusade's conclusion, the Khan of Khans calls for an invasion of Roma. Pope Mark II's forces were already depleted so they were easily overpowered.

SZkCTtt.jpg

ildBmQj.jpg

oHT7HpR.jpg

Doge Dandolo of Venice has been a thorn in the Empire's side for some time. They have conquered several cities and the time for their demise is at hand. Khan Bogen declares an invasion of Venice. Lo and behind several cities in greece including constantinople and cities in Jerusalem rise up to support their doge. The Doge also owns the southern half of Iberia. The Khan knows he can't maintain a solid grip of the Iberian lands so he decides to focus on the stray cities occupied by Venetien forces as well as the lands in Italy.

iVo5How.jpg

While the Khan is making great gains for his empire, all is not well. The Khan of Greece does not approve of Khan of Khans Bogen's rule. As such an envoy has been permanently stationed in Constantinople to ensure his loyalty. Khan Bogen was never destined to rule; he was raised to be a general not an emperor. Hopefully he can hold his brother's empire together.

Chapter 9: The Fall of Francia
[1323-1330]

Khan Bogen having recently defeated the Catholics in Italy, recalls how powerful the French armies of King Louis The Great were. House Capet's leaders were in many cases more potent than his own. Seeing this show of might encourged the Khan to declare the Invasion of France. If he could crush the last major Christian stronghold then any future crusades called on his territory would be utterly futile. What the Khan hadn't planned on was an enemy from the North.

UHp3iJQ.jpg

However fortune favors the bold. The Danes did not send a single soldier to aid their French brothers. Louis the Great led the defense in the north while some of his retainers attempted to hold onto the Aquitane.

sCmEkMg.jpg

QIyGyp2.jpg

It wasn't enough. The Mongolian troops loyal to the Khan of Khans number in the hundreds of thousands. The brave French soldiers did hold the line for some time. In the end, all they did was slow the inevitable.

G5slJer.jpg

While Khan Bogen was riding through the lowlands, he couldn't help but admire its beauty. He was so moved by the new lands that he moved his administration to the Kingdom of Friesland. Specifically the county of Brugge (Antewerpen). But as with all good things, someone has to try to muck them up

r5MYDUR.jpg

Alas this war did rage on for 3 years. The Khan was in the process of cleaning up small terriotiries within france (Gascone etc). In doing so he had to send troops to the British Isles to 'convince' their owners to withdraw from continental Europe. About half of his levies were depleted from assaulting the French holdings. It took some time to divert his personal retinues to fight the Caliph. Thankfully the Kingdom of Italy has nearly 700 ships available which he used aggressively to send troops to/from Jerusalem.

Having dealt once again with the Muslims, Khan Bogen can once again return his focus to his old nemesis, Doge Dandolo. Since the Kingdom of Venice is now part of the Mongolian Empire, the Doge styles himself as the Doge of Andalusia.

Notes
I found a great use for the grant independence. When I had to take holdings to drive warscore up in an invasiion CB, I could give those away to some nobody and give them leave. I don't want to try to tackle the British isles for some time (maybe last). If I took them now i would get all kinds of attacks from England and Ireland

Also, did anyone else notice the Kingdoms of Ireland and Portugal. Wow.

When you convert this, the Mongol and Turkish states outside of the CK2 map will be attached, because you are the Mongol Empire instead of Golden Horde or Ilkhanate. That should be interesting.

Also, what will you do with Timur? Will you just defeat and banish him, or maybe use him as a martial?

Chapter 10: Iberia
[1330-1339]

Khan Bogen, eager to once again resume his conquest of the known world, turns his gaze to Iberia. The closest kingdom to his empire is Aragon, which is where he begins his invasion.

tEIyfzz.jpg

Next the Khan pays an old friend a visit. He assults the King of Andalusia which is no other than the former Doge of Venice, Doge Dandolo. The Doge had deep pockets so the horde had to fight many different mercenary bands while occupying southern Spain.

lx68pVV.jpg

The empire's chancellor gets a sudden urge to purge the world of heathens. Allowing him to join the order was just one of many actions which would lead to Khan Bogen being known as 'the pious'.

uSNiy0f.jpg

Such actions like putting known 21 christian revolts.

FlQk9Ln.jpg

But none could face the tide of Mongols. However Khan Bogen was impressed with the Portugeese Queen's tenacity as well as Doge Dandolo. He agreed to allow them to keep their titles but their children would never inherit.

Read: Two things happened here. First, all of the Iberian colors were very similiar (especially during a faction war in portugal) so i messed up and didn't get all of her territory. The second is a bug which i reported. Doge Dandolo has no lands at all yet the title still exists. From what I hear when he dies the title will be destroyed.

t3MliC6.jpg

Having secured Iberia, the Khan sends his forces to Scilily. A few independent kings were there which he needed to expel. And then a 3rd Great Holy was was called. The khan could never refuse the high priest. Perm called in their stalwart Danish allies. However the Empire dwarfs both kingdoms. Is there anything that can stand against the tide?

LvyUGZO.jpg

World of 1339
SZkNopu.jpg

Nl1EKN0.jpg

Now the Khan wants to secure that last major Kingdoms in the Baltic. But of course, the Danes will have to pay for their audicity in fighting in the Great Holy War for Perm.

Chapter 11: Uniting Russia
[1339 - 1351]

The fractured Russian states stood little chance against the tide of Mongols. The Great Holy War was won with ease.

Chapter 12, The Finale
[1351-1360]

Khan of Khans Ambagheti sends his forces across the empire to deal with the civil war.

The Khan of Khans became known as Ambagheti the cruel.
FaHQOiz.jpg

To make matters worse, Khan Yegu of Volga Bulgaria formed an independence league and revolted during the civil war.
They obviously didn't want to serve such a cruel Khan.

A Horde the likes the Khan has never seen before protects his enemies capital. However the small island cannot support that many troops and the Gulf of Venice begins to fill with their bodies.

The Khan waits for the right time to strike and then sends the bulk of his forces to Venice and secures the island.

The Khan wins both wars and reunites the empire.

Well guys, i started this campaign to get the achievement of the same name. I spent a few hours checking and I should get it but the achievements are mucked up. I guess there is a bug where if you disconnect at all during an ironman game you can never get achievements from that point onward. So i'm a little bummed out.

So I'm going to call this AAR finished for now. I might try this again in the future. I was thinking if i were to do this again I should convert to christian or muslim so i don't have to worry about as many revolts. It got really ridiculous lol.

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed it.
