Hi everyone from Paradox. I´ve read this before, in so many places. I KNOW you guys decided to create stellaris console edition exclusively with controller, because you didn´t have enough time or whatever and thought it was a decent port.

I love this game, really. I get really excited everytime I start playing it on Xbox. But, the fact that I can´t use the keyboard, always gets me, eventually.

We are in 2021. We have the new generation happening. The game was upgraded to new generation. It´s beautiful! You guys have two teams working on the game. So WHY NOT start the port for keyboard and mouse in the consoles?! It´s the only thing left to make this game PERFECT!! BELIEVE ME!

What is incredible is that city skylines, surviving mars and even the new game (Surviving the afetermath) they all have keyboard and mouse adaptation. I wonder: what went wrong with Stellaris:?!?!

I don't know what keyboard and mouse support would really add to the game - 90% of console players hate playing games with them so wouldn't use them anyway.

While the controller controls the game perfectly - there's never been a moment I've thought, "Damn, I wish I could play with a keyboard and mouse right now!"...

Though at the same time, it shouldn't be that hard to add to the game for the handful of ye that want it for whatever reason .

True. I agree. The controller works fine, I agree. But, I believe the option to use m&K on xbox is implemented for a reason. Games like this, strategy ones, are way better played with keyboard. What I don´t understand is why many of the games of Paradox already have this adaptation, but they didn´t added it to stellaris. This bugs me.

I'd imagine because it's not a priority to implement as opposed to the missing DLCs and updates, and there are way more things that need adding/changing mechanically to improve the game than just adding m&k. Also, what makes you say that these games are way better with m&k?

having mouse and keyboard support isn't fully up to Paradox [or Tantalus the company behind the console edition port]

it is also up to the console itself

while the xbox one does have "some" m&k support it doesn't do it for every game

and never use the new consoles as part of your argument as to why we should get something, especially when there are still some many people who want the new consoles but are unable to buy them thanks to scalpers and now the new chip shortage

What are scalpers? Are your referring to bulk buyers?

They have stated in the past that the reason is the console version was designed to work with a controller so there will be no support in the future for it. Simply put, it was made for a controller. That's it.

No, they made it work for a controller because consoles primarily use controllers. If console players want to use a keyboard, then they should be able to use a keyboard. It would be good practice anyway for when I shift to PC

Yeah, consoles primarily use controllers. Hence why they said the game was designed to be used with controllers. Not sure what you're trying to say dude. Nothing I said was inaccurate.

It was pretty clear, they made a game designed for the PC work with a controller, so they can do it the other way around. They may have said that they don't want to do it, but we aren't arguing what they want, we're getting a sense for how many people want it and why. The point is that just because it was made to be used with a controller doesn't mean it can't be used with K&M, the reason it was designed to work with a controller was because they wanted to make a console version to reach a larger market and it needs to work with the input device

He asked why they don't do it and I simply provided the answer as to why they won't. You're arguing a position I never brought up.

I personally would like this, but call me biased. I spent three months with a broken controller (it was the first controller I got when I bought my Xbox One which I got on Day One, so it was older than dirt.) and was unable to play anything except Warthunder and a select few others games. Really missed out on a bunch of Stellaris stuff with a group of friends because of that. Not saying they should add it, but the option would be nice.

"No, we’ve optimized Stellaris Console Edition for play with each console’s controller - we will of course update this to next-gen controllers as needed, but in general, this will be the same Stellaris experience we’ve designed for controllers." - Freake

that quote was taken from another post here on the forums where someone else asked about Keyboard and Mouse support for the console edition

in short, I don't think they have any plans to add in k&m support for the game

I recognise that they've said they don't want to, but as I said in the post, that's not what the post is debating. We're getting a sense for whether they should, not whether they will.
