Ok, a navy is important for an overseas empire and to project power. I was thinking more of how an army was more important to a country, since it can stop your neighbour's army from martching straight into your capital

I guess all I can say is that they are both important in different ways.

Well there was one war when the Uk didn't do that...no wait, that wasn't one war, it was every single war the UK has been in. Well it's an easy mistake to make, I see you made it too.

Ok, ok, absolutes don't work either way, but the UK has certainly fought more than hid in it's wars.

Not really. The USN surpassed the Kaiserlichemarine before the scuttling took place. Of course, the USN did not overtake Britain until 1943 or so, which is well outside the time frame of this game.

Vendare, that was part of my point, without the siezure of Alsace/Lorraine, not so much animosity between France and Germany, which would allow France to return to her rich historical heritage of detesting all things English. Getting rid of Bizmark was a crime.

in asking this question i was wondering how many people would agree with me, apparently alot of you agree. the only way to dominate the world is with a strong navy, and maybe a little luck.

I've noticed the following when playing EU2 - MP games: As countries generate more cash, the alliances shifts around a lot. Suddenly countries with wast trading-empires, such as England, Holland & sometimes Portugal are very importaint allies as they can pay for the armies of their allies as well as raising mercenaries now and then....

In other words, it often tend to turn out like it did during the Nappy-wars.

To generate all that cash you need your navy... but without an army to spend the money on.... what's the use?
