Keep Kingdom Titles, or Destroy Kingdom Titles

Started a new game as Castille. It's coming up on 1120, and I've grabbed a good hunk of Spain. I'm currently king of Castille, Galicia, and Leon. De Jure Galicia and Leon are occupied by vassals. Am I better off keeping or destroying those titles? What are the pluses/minuses? If I'm going to destroy them, I want to do it soon as my king is pushing 70, so I'll let him take the negative opinion before he dies.

Oh, Leon and Galicia both have High CA (Castille is Medium), and all kingdoms are Elective. Oddly, on the Kingdom Map when I mouse over Galicia and Leon it says that they're De Jure drifting into themselves. Leon is drifting into Leon? Why not into Castille? Thanks in advance.

its better to destroy those titles. While you will take both a prestige and relations hit, it eliminates the "desires title" malus, and after 100 years they will drift into your primary kingdom, reducing revolt risk by -20% (De Jure Vassal) and will be available as Titular Kingdom Titles, which do no harm but only give half the prestige per year.

Ah, its because they are drifting out of Hispania. I dont have idea why, but if a King of something holds all his De Jure lands, they start drifting out of their empire. It can get really weird, with France drifting out of Francia and Persia out of Persia.

Yes, but Castille will still keep drifting out of Hispania. In the end, it makes no difference, Castille will drift out and drag drifted Leon and Galicia with it.

They are putting a stop to that with 1.08, no more auto-drifting from titles that have yet to be created.

They will drift into Castille, they shouldn't be drifting out of Hispania at all unless you hold another Empire title.

PErsonaly, while you will eliminate that ridiculous desires title malus, spain is a huge prestige farm with all those kingdom titles. It will also make it easier to manage later on when you have an Empire and can make King-vassals.

Having all kingdoms under one kingdom title is more or less for roleplaying if you ask me, there is no real benefit and you lose the extra prestige.

drifting out of non-existing empires is fixed in 1.08

Fixed depends on your point of view (though I clearly belonged to a minority). For me it wasn't an issue, but it seemed to bug quite a lot of people. Then again instead of drifting out, I'd rather have had to titles becoming titular, if they aren't created within (standard in game drift period) 100 years.
I happen to like the idea behind titular titles, however ideally there should be a better way of informing people of the requirements needed to create a certain titular title.

Don't destroy them! Holding Kingdom titles over generations will make your family house prestige through the roof! If you are planning to create the Empire of Spain, you can pass those titles out and the kings would still be your vassals. If you plan to hold onto them for yourself, you can turn them titular after 100 years.

How do I make them titular?

Destroy them and let all their de jure lands drift into other titles.

The four northern Spanish kingdoms allow for a little workaround.

Vassal will only want your secondary titles, so if you hold as much as possible in secondary kingdoms you can restrict the number of annoyed vassals. Say holding Navarra and Castile (7 counties total) and having Galicia as primary, that only leaves the five counties of Leon to pose any problem.

Like above poster says hold all the counties of Navarra,Castille, and Galicia myself.Then Destroy them(Barons,Bishops, and Mayors don't care), making Kingdom of Leon my primary.After Dejure Drift has done its work Voila!

Personally, I'd pick your favorite kingdom and control as much of its de jure as possible as your counties. I'd then work on building up to controlling the Empire of Hispania while holding onto the other kingdoms. Those nice small de jure kingdoms in Spain as your vassals will be very tasty (and reasonably stable) when you create the empire.

The question also becomes when should you create Kingdom titles - the answer depends. In my current game I have the Dukes of Istria and Bavaria as vassals. I could create the Kingdom of Bavaria and give it to one of the Dukes but what will likely happen is that the other Duke will soon revolt and they'll be at war at somewhat even odds (so a long war). I'd rather wait to create it until I have some more Duchies within it so that one side will have the advantage in a war that won't last too long.
