Keep African soil or expand in Europe?

I'm playing as Italy and I just want to know, whats your opinion? Protecting the colonies in Africa or expanding your empire in Europe, I mean you could probably do both at the same time, (which I plan to do) but it seems like it would be a bit more of a challenge and time consuming to do that which doesn't matter to me as long as I benefit. Well anyways, I just want your opinions and thanks for reading.

Go for making the mediterranean your private pond and capture suez + the middle east. If you feel brave you can even go for Turkey to get a land connection all the way around.

But once you have taken north africa, fortify the oil resources/suez and start sending more troops to help in Barbarossa. It's not really worth expanding any further into Africa unless you need the naval bases, even then i'd go for Saudi.

Hmm, Germany didn't invade France yet. Anyways, I just conquered Greece, and Albania and I am waiting for Germany's invasion of France if it ever happens.

If the Barbarossa Operation does happen eventually then I'll help out, but historically not to many Italians survived in the SU (wells thats what I read in a biography about Benito Mussolini).

Thats strange, Germany hasn't DoW on Czech nor France and its 1942. Japan just declared war on the allies, and USA, so while Japan is screwing around I'm just gonna buildup my Armour, motor inf, and infantry to take all of the Mediterranean.

That's certainly odd. A lot of events must have misfired for that to happen. Did Germany even attack Poland (Danzig or War!-event) - is it even at war with anyone? Since you said that it isn't at war with France, it cannot be at war with the Allies.
Anyway, I think the major problem that might completely derail the German AI is if Germany is already at war during the crucial pre-war events in 1938/9. Without peace, there's no 'Anschluss of Austria', no 'Treaty of Munich'/'End of Czechoslovakia', no entry of Poland into the Allies and no 'Danzig or War'. Those are all events that fire on certain dates in '38/'39. If you missed them, you'll have no chance but to start WW2 manually by DOWing yourself.

Yeah I had to DoW Czech for Germany manually, its kind of like that post, "In Soviet Russia Stalin Barbarossa's You" the Russians are stacking there units next to Germany and Germany isn't doing crap. Maybe its because I took the Balkans, and Yugoslavia.

EDIT: Oh, Germany did take out Poland but the Allies didn't do anything.
