Kara Mustapha's startdate is wrong, in EU2 his startdate is set to 1685 but historicly Kara Mustapha sieged Wien in 1683 and died. Unfortunately i dont know his startdate, but indeed it's not 1685 (because he died 1683). I hope you change this in next beta or something....(i use the latest 7feb beta).

As it is now:
name = "Kara Mustapha"
startdate = {
year=1685
}
deathdate = {
year=1700

Then for example then change it to startdate= 1668 and deathdate= 1683 (as we or I dont know the startdate). But if someones knows his startdate it would be good too.

There are many sources about Kara Mustapha but here is one:

According to this site:

Muhammad Kuprili
The most significant figure among the Ottomans of the seventeenth century was Muhammad Kuprili (1570-1661), who, as Grand Vizier, halted the general decline of Ottoman government by rooting out corruption all through the imperial government and returned to the old Ottoman practice of closely observing local government and rooting out injustice. He also tried to revive the Ottoman practice of conquest and protecting Muslim countries from European expansion. Although it didn't happen in his lifetime, this new expansionist policy would begin the steady stream of military defeats against European powers that would slowly contract the Empire.

Wars with Austria
Shortly after Muhammad Kuprili died, his brother-in-law, Kara Mustafa, took over the military and put into practice Kuprili's new expanionist policies. His first target was the Hapsburg Empire of Austria. He wanted nothing less than the complete conquest of Austria, so he marched straight for the capital, Vienna. In 1683, with Vienna under siege, the Ottomans were defeated by an alliance of European forces and by the heavy artillery that had come into practice among European armies. While this defeat initiated a long period peace in the relationships between the Ottomans and the Europeans, it also effectively ended the Ottoman wars of conquest, and the end of conquest also began the steady deterioration of Ottoman power over European territories.

Kara Mustafa started commanding the military in 1661 and died in 1683

Then we have to bugs.....

1. Muhammad Kuprili isnt edited into OE in EU2 as a General which died 1661.

2. Kara Mustpha's correct start and death date is: startdate= 1661 and deathdate= 1683. (not as in eu2 1685-1700)

I guess, but it seems Kuprili's military career only lasted 5 years, 1656-1661. Negligable at best.

I like 1676 startdate for Mustafa, as that's when he actually became a general, so to speak.

Are there any sources supporting your statement? :confused:

According to your site, 1676 is when he took the Grand Vizier position, which is when he took over the military. Nobody really knows anything about him before 1676. I could go with even 1668 as the original poster proposed, but 1661 is a stretch, since we know he didn't take over the military until 1676.

Yes there are:
KARA MUSTAFA (d. 1683), Turkish vizier, surnamed Merzifunli, was a son of Uruj Bey, a notable Sipahi of Merzifun (Marsovan), and brother-in-law to Ahmed Kuprili, whom he succeeded as grand vizier in 1676, after having for some years held the office of Kaimmakam or locum tenens. His greed and ostentation were equalled by his incapacity, and he behaved with characteristic insolence to the foreign ambassadors, from whom he extorted large bribes. After conducting a campaign in Poland which terminated unfortunately, he gave a ready response to the appeal for aid made by the Hungarians under Imre Thokoly (q.v.) when they rose against Austria, his hope being to form out of the Habsburg dominions a Mussulman empire of the West, of which he should be the sultan. The plan was foiled-in part by his own lack of military skill, but chiefly through the heroic resistance of Vienna and its timely relief by John Sobieski, king of Poland. Kara Mustafa paid for his defeat with his life; he was beheaded at Belgrade in 1683 and his head was brought to the sultan on a silver dish.
