I see a girl with long hair and big feet, and something that can be some kind of short tail. See one feet by the Indian Ocean, the other she put on her knee. She has her head just by the northeast shore of lake Tchad, with with her hands in the hair which is gonig to the west african shore, and one of those awful animist is she sitting on.

It's two monkeys fleeing east into the cruel waters of the Indian Ocean since they are objects of that odd thing which is known as the free animist punching bag. F.A.P.B.B. Free animist puching bag bank.

I think it's a cute, fluffy amœba.
A cute fluffy amoeba for now. Hopefully it shall morph into something more potent.

You can't be serious with these, can you? It's obviously still a dragon, it has just evolved into a mighty burninating one! Extras include a rear-mounted wing and a (somewhat) beefy arm for good measure. Behold:

kbdragon.jpg

EDIT: As for the Anti-Club Law concerns on the previous page, I'm sure the Kanem Bornu National Club Association will make sure Kanem Bornuans retain their constitutional right to carry a weapon.
Silly me, how could I not see that dragon :)

I saw you are using Spearmen and not Clubmen. Spear != Club. Shame on you!

Other then that, good expansion.
It is an unfortunate bug in EUIII:IN. The clubman graphic was omitted, shame on Johan.

Now that you've stretched a fashionably blue band across Africa, international norms dicate that everything south belongs to you, right?

I see Europe has yet to colonize anything. Are you going to have plenty of time to fufil destiny and people Sub-Saharan Africa?

Also, MING.
Everything south. And north. And possibly to the East and West. Yeah Ming has gone on quite a rampage. WWM tends to wreak havoc on historicity, which was of course always rather low in vanilla anyway.

IT'S AN ELEPHANT! And, of course, another smashing, or should I say clubbing, update! :D
Thank you. An elephant is a much more fitting animal than an amoeba or dragon.

It looks like roadkill on the highway of peace. :D

Now that Spread-Elephantism has been achieved from east to west, it is time to accomplish the same from north to south.
Roadkill making more like. It shall become a better shape soon I hope.

Damn, this update was short, make a longer one next time!
Apologies, I was in a little bit of a rush.

Looks like a serpent with some legs.
A lizard?

I agree with Vaftrudner. Its an amoeba, but its not fluffy.

If it is, then im Johnny English.

Waiting for giant hedgehogs and Mr. Bean to appear in the AAR. When will they arrive??
I shall endeavour to keep those two things out of this AAR actually. Except maybe the hedgehogs.

I see a Kanem Bornuan posing next to a vanquished animist, before picking up his club again. Maybe I should see a shrink, or start clubbing myself...
Either of those two options should improve things.

The clubbing is preferably, otherwise the shrink would probably say the same thing.
Quite right. Are you a Kanem Bornuan psychiatrist by any chance?

I just finished reading through this AAR and a hearty "Brilliant!" goes out to you.

With additional tech levels, you might just hold off the Eurotrash invaders which are sure to come your way.

But I worry about MING. Is MING the Merciless in command of much of Asia? Good gravy.
Thank you for taking the time to read through it all. Ming certainly is doing quite well in their neck of the woods. They don't tend to get much further than that. I just hope they know that too.

Highways in Africa before Henry ford! Genius!
Henry Ford, apparently quite the thief of African ideas. Where do you think the mass production line came from? Kanem Bornuan club factories of course.

No! It's a snake that has just easten a monkey... or an ape
Or an animist. Although if that were the case I'm sure it would be dead, animists must be poisonous.

:rofl::rofl:

fluffy... sticky or pointy would fit better for KB:D
I think so too.

A monkey definitely came to mind. I guess your theory would explain the stuff that doesn't fit.
Good to know that that theory is gaining ground.

I see a monkey having oral sex with a one legged antelope.

But then again I see that in most things.
I recommend visiting a Kanem Bornuan psychiatrist.

Thanks for keeping this AAR going, it's very fun and interesting! Love your writing style :)

Cheers!
Thank you very much for the kind words.

In a relatively obscure piece of fluff in warhammer 40k there is an amoeba which when introduced to any living organism turns the said organism into a huge amoeba and then absorbs it. I think this would be one of those.
Relatively obscure that sure is. I'm not sure what more to say other than cool

Well, if it stretches Africa coast to coast, I'd say huge is an understatement. Then again, there's been a lot of "absorbing" going on.
And more to come.

I was looking at the world map again, and I have a few questions:

I can't tell the difference between the Mamluks and Mutapa. Colors are much too similar. How far south does Mamluk land extend?

Is that Mali extending into North Africa? So they hadn't been idle all that time between their ill-considered DoWs on you.

There's been an awful lot of blobbing, hasn't there?
Mamluks and Mutapa overlap around modern day Eritrea/Somalia. No clear boundaries. It isn't Mali in North Africa, that's Morocco, unfortunately the same colour.

Picked up that interrabang from EUROO? He stole it. It's Lord D's.
They have been quite the rage of late haven't they‽

It's a snake trampled over by elephants.
I like that idea.

Good to see you back. I thought you'd quit the forum. An interesting take on the shape.

It's two monkeys fleeing east into the cruel waters of the Indian Ocean since they are objects of that odd thing which is known as the free animist punching bag. F.A.P.B.B. Free animist puching bag bank.
FAPBB? Not a title anyone would want to be known by but an apt one nonetheless.

Fun AAR-- just read through it. Looks like bad things happened to Portugal = good for clubbers!
A mess in Europe that calls for tidying at a later date.

Sadly... a weekend without KB update :(
Gonna go to bed early this night, gotta cry into my cushion :( :(
Sorry about the delay.

Right now I really feel like clubbing someone!
Calm down, calm down. The fix will be along shortly.

I'm starting to shake without my weekly supply of clubbing.
Can you hold out just a bit more?

I know it may be a tad early, but I have become curious: In what magnificent way can you cross gunpowder and clubs?
Many, many fine ways. Does this seem like an avenue worth pursuing?

Why, yes I am, and I advise everyone here that if you are feeling sad about the update taking long, just club some animists. You will feel a LOT better.

And btw what is the date now?

So at last in the little empire of Kanem Bornu peace fell upon the land. Everywhere camels slumbered, salt merchants plied their trade, boutique club makers whittled away at evermore beautiful and deadly creations and the peasants rejoiced, as peasants are always wont to do.
42152-004-13AF61CB.jpg

The peasants rejoice.

Truly it was a wonderous week.

Yes, war was never far Kanem Bornu. This time the dogs of war were let slip from their kennel by the Mamluks in early 1514.
2461664-mangy-dog-0.jpg

Fluffles, the Mamluk's dog of war arrives weary from crossing the Sahara.

287.gif

Najd is the enemy but far more interesting is the list of potential allies of Najd.

After giving Fluffles a couple of biscuits the faithful mutt of belligerence is told to go home boy with an answer of yes. Kanem Bornu is plunged into war with the Barbary states, one of them a former ally.

289.jpg

Fez once an ally now a target

Together Fez and Morocco present an unguarded rear to Kanem Bornu. That is to say a frontier composed of unfortified colonies. They must be seized in the name of Muhammad. The wonderful thing about this last line of reasoning is that it justifies any seizure of land. If it's land from a animist then it means Muhammad the 6th century shepherd, if it's from a fellow Muslim then of course it refers to whichever Muhammad is currently emperor of Kanem Bornu.
290.jpg

Stripy lands indicate enemy colonies

291.jpg

292.gif

Borders are soon corrected

294.jpg

Two new salty colonies, both nearly cities

After Fez and Morocco are relieved of the burden of colonial upkeep the armies quickly descend on more solid possessions. But they certainly are not solid enough and within a matter of months the garrisons have either seen the light or seen a club moving in their direction at speeds guaranteed to leave portions of their face somewhere between the back of their head and last Tuesday.
295.jpg

Resistance is best defined by a cliché

Having deduced that the correct cliche to describe resistance was in fact futile and not a piece of cake Fez decided to sue for peace.
296.gif

Not a bad deal

297.jpg

Ooooo, more shiny

So once again peace descended like a comforting blanket over the land of Kanem Bornu. Once again the camels slumbered, the merchants plied and the club makers whittled and of course
42152-004-13AF61CB.jpg

the peasants rejoiced

Maybe Kanem Bornuan Mathematics is different from what we practice in Europe, but a war with Najd, Morocco, Fez and a few others (not relevant for this mathematical exercise) minus Fez still leaves Najd, Morocco and a few others (not relevant for theis mathematical exercise).

However if I was to take the club-root of the result and were to mulitply it by elephants ...

Wow, I always thought you were setting up a defensive frontier of attrition-heavy provinces to the north so you could work on southern expansion. Well, maybe you were, but what Kanem Bornuan Padishah would pass up a good war?

I see Morocco is being eaten by rebels...those colonies really did require your protection!

And there's your first unchangeably non-Mali province. It's sufficiently shiny to make up for it, I guess (that's five gold provinces! Surely you're rich now). Are you going to convert those Magreb Arab colonies to Mali or save the colonists for fresh land?

It is an unfortunate bug in EUIII:IN. The clubman graphic was omitted, shame on Johan.

Actually was referring to the fact that the 1st Army led by Abu Sekkin Yorassem during the siege of Malindi was composed of six regiments of African Spearmen from the provinces of Bornu, Bagirmi and Mandara. Regardless Kanem Bornu is doing well, and I am glad to see those colonies now benefit from proper leadership.

FAPBB? Not a title anyone would want to be known by but an apt one nonetheless.

Well it is their punishment for their laughable animist ways therefore they reiceive a laughable name it gives them humilty and keeps them in their place. Until they are replaced with those of the true faith.
