North Korea, that secluded country sandwiched between South Korea and China; has for long kept its borders closed and its plans quiet. It's mystifying leader Kim Jong Il has imposed trade restrictions and an ideology called Juche which emphasizes no trade whatsoever and 100% self relience. In a time of peak oil and an ever larger scramble for what few unexploited resources there are left in the world this might seem like a good thing.

Except of course.... North Korea has no oil or rare natural resources. Hence an ambitious plan was spawned by Kim Il Sung following the stalemate after the Korean War. Our top intelligence operatives have painstakingly procured this information from Pyongyang. Many bothans died for this information.

1966 - North Korean institute of revolutionary science conducts the first ever test with a misery powered time machine.
1975 - Small scale testing successful. Early prototypes can send objects of up to 1 kilo back in time.
1980 - Great Anju Parallel dimensiom mishap, an interdimensional rift is opened to what many believe was hell. Ushering in an era of terror, decline and really poor taste. Commonly known as the 80s; mentioning "Walk like an Egyptian" to any North Korean citizen will make shivers run down their spine. Accompanying hand and arm gestures are punishable by death.
1987 - Program reaches pre 1980 levels again
1990s - Program is halted due to lack of resources, political will and people who are not starving.
2005 - First test on humans a resounding success. North Korean scientists manage to send a man back in time to 1998. Numerous Ace of Base t-shirts are brought back as proof of the success.
2007 - North Korean ministry of war and institute of history start making plans for "A plan that will literally change history" (the man who came up with this name was summarily shot).
2009 - Plan is finished and resources are gathered for the worlds first pre time expeditionary force.
2011 - Kim Jong Il and 10.000 troops of the revolutionary guard goose step through the "Banner of Songun Time Machine" to change history, bringing with them 1000 tonnes of sulphur and 1000 tonnes of dyes.

The arrival

This is Sweden, the country chosen as the vessel of Kim's greatness. Largely self reliant and with armed forces not strong enough to repel the Korean invasion this was seen as an excellent target. After two years of brutal war the Korean forces managed to take control of Sweden and impose a harsh communistic rule on it. The beginning of 1836 approaches and comrade Kim has great plans for this country.

But first a few base rules set up by myself.
- No Imports whatsoever to symbolise a juche rule
- For every year I avoid imports I get to decrease plurality by 1. If there is no plurality to lower I get a cash bonus of 10k instead.
- If I have to cheat and buy something off the WM I must punish myself by increasing plurality by 10%
- A modified Communist party must be in power the entire game. If they are removed from power for just 1 month I lose.

Changes to the VIP GC
- Added "Koreanska Arbetarpartiet I Sverige" - Korean Workers Party in Sweden as new party and put it in charge.
- Gave Sweden Finnish and Korean as national culture.
- Gave Sweden 1000 sulphur and 1000 dye as starting resources to make the hump a bit smaller.

Now then, what challenges awaits us?
- First of all we will need to establish the basic arms industries required to impose our will on the world and equip new men. Those are:
- Small arms factory, which in turn requires:
- Ammunition Factory
- Steel Mill
Of these we have an ammunition factory and a steel mill. We do however lack a small arms factory and the sulphur required to run the ammunition factory.

- Canned food factory.
We do not have a canned food factory, but we have all necessary resources required to run one except cattle. Luckily both of these problems can be remedied in one operation.

- Clipper shipyard, which in turn requires:
- Lumber mill
- Timber
- Fabric
We have all the required factories except the clipper shipyard. However we lack the cotton, dyes and wool required to run the fabric factory. These clippers will be required to haul in the resources from across the world necessary for our industry.

To sum it all up we need to procure these resources in order to complete step one of our planned world domination.
- Cotton
- Dyes
- Sulphur
- Cattle
- Wool

:D :D

And they chose ... Sweden? Kim must have an eye for the blonde ladies! Thank heavens you've created a true Vicky comedy AAR. Or maybe you just want to win an easy AARland Choice Award. But even if this is so you have my attention ...

Misery power. You're a freak :p

EDIT: Just saw your new post. Wow, those are some pretty strict rules to follow! Best of luck, and this ought to be very interesting.

Nah, Vicky has always been my darling and it isn't fair to only do AARs for other games when I have played this game more than twice the time of the others combined.

I put Finnish there because of historical reasons as well as the fact that I will need lots of Manpower if I am to produce all of my crap myself. Remember that Finland was only lost to Russia 27 years before the game starts after being a natural part of Sweden for over 400 years. But enough of my nationalist ramblings. Onwards to Socialism and self sufficiency.

Denmark

Early February
War is declared on Denmark and her satellite Holstein.

Juche3.jpg

Swedish forces capture Copenhagen and Odense in a sneak attack. 2/3rds of the army and 80% of the navy is destroyed. Dragoons show their ineptness later on as they fail to defeat rebels 1/10th of their size.

Juche2.jpg

How about "No, and go sodomize yourself with a bratwurst".

Juche1.jpg

I was planning on milking this war for prestige but if I'm to get a functioning industry up and running before the wars start rolling in I will need to be quick. All of Schlesvig and Holstein is taken in the peace and 4 new cattle producing provinces are incorporated. As is a canned food factory within the state. Construction of a clipper factory is started in Götaland.

Next up Cotton

Juche21.jpg

How about no and go sodomize yourself with the same sausage the Schleswigians used.

Juche22.jpg

After painstaking wars half a world away we have managed to procure the Cotton and Wool we so desperately require. However due to certain logistical mishaps our overseas provinces are only operating at 8.3%.
Since our sole cotton province is currently producing .07 cotton per day we are still facing drastic shortages in that area and it will take a lot of time before we can get our overseas trade routes operational.

Here are some calculations I've made.
1.6 Cotton is required to fire up ye olde fabric factory. That means it takes 22.8 days to gather enough cotton to create roughly enough fabric to fire the clipper factory up. When the clipper factory is working it produces 0.05 clippers which is 1/20th of a clipper convoy. So by my most optimistic calculations it will take 457 days before my second clipper convoy starts working the overseas trade routes. I will need 12 before they are fully operational. Since the time roughly halves each time we can still assume it will take one hell of a time before we have reached World Domination Goal 1.

You can say a lot about how inefficient communism is but we know EXACTLY how inefficient we are!

Ok F*ck it I lied, it's imperialism; whatcha gonna do?

Juche31.jpg

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I Kiss you *smack*

Having now secured dyes for continued production we turned towards the last important resource before we could continue with the superpower program: Sulphur.
Since Italy is such a cripple in vanilly Vicky I decided to turn towards Two Sicilies as my sulphur source.

The war is harder than I anticipated because I only have 4 divs to fight with, one being a dragoon regiment which has performed as well as a pregnant blue whale going uphill. So in short my odds of winning are not good when I realise Sardinia Piedmont is invading me too.

Juche33.jpg

At one point they held all of mainland Sweden while I was scrambling to take as many of their allies capitals as possible to make peace. In the end we manage to make peace by giving them two extra Italian province we got in the peace deal with Two Sicilies. Sweden is now at peace for the first time in many a year AND we have all the resources necessary for industrialization! Nothing can stop the Red revolution now!

Juche34.jpg

Except of course the Russian DOW which occurs 1 second after I start the game. Tune in next time to see me get crushed by Russia.

A problem I've begun to realise is going to become a huge issue later on is that since I even now don't have enough resources to run my basic industries I will have to expand my resource base rapidly in the coming years if I am not to have a huge pile of rusting machinery which won't work because of poor planning and lack of internal production. Another large problem is that many of the factories which solely produce for internal production are running a loss. Whilst not a problem per se since they are only to be used inside the country the cost of equipping my troops is 10-25% higher than that of your run of the mill European Nation.

If it weren't for the brilliant ideology of juche you could say I am in fact destroying perfectly good export worthy raw materials. Nonsense I say. Just because my infrastructure is years behind continental Europe due to a lack of machine tools in the beginning doesn't mean I wont be able to catch up technologically!

What's that you say? I need clerks for that? Well what do I need for clerks then? Precious metals and Wine huh? Great! Just F*cking great. Atleast there will be a lot of fuel for the ride home when this goes pear shaped.

I've found this quite entertaining. :D

And I'll watch to the end, even as your own populace rips you to shreds. Now that'll be entertaining. ;)

After a few harsh weeks of war, Russia has taken all of northern Sweden and is approaching the industrial region. After unsuccessfully trying to run the gauntlet in Italy I finally escape with 3 divisions of troops to reinforce our Norwegian comrades in defending our borders. However three poorly equipped, led, motivated, fed and trained divisions are not going to swing the balance of this war. Just as we fight the Russians for control of Stockholm ( I was planning on stalling them and then taking up positions in Götaland (souther sweden) around a newly built arms factory so I could slowly turn the tide) when I got an offer I couldn't refuse. Peace for Luleå and Mariehamn, I gladly accept and get to the next pressing matter at hand. The liberal revolution. My plurality skyrocketed from manageable 7 to ungodly 27. I decide to use my built up reserv of plurality decreasers and lower it to 15. Nevertheless 4 very bleak years are ahead of us.

One positive thing to add though, precision work fired and I start the construction of a machine parts factory in Götaland.

We are now at a crossroads, should I expand into Korea for the manpower required to complete the world revolution or should I focus on securing Sweden against the liberal revolution and develop my retarded infrastructure and industry there?

I heartily loled at the Ace of Base T-shirts.

But the 80's were awesome.

Anyway, I wish you, Comrade Tysken good luck with your plans. Seems like a quite the challange. I expected there will be a lot of funky BB wars, am I right?
